P3 Cars integrated gauge install
 

Hey all, the guys at P3cars.com sent me there integrated digital interface to try out after some radiator issues went ugly. As you all are likely aware the lack of info on the dash really sucking on the Mini, there is much to be desired, which has caused a fair amount of issues for myself, especially while tracking.

I was quite adamant about trying the P3 gauge given it's "stock" look and didn't want a huge cluster of gauges messing with the interiors lines. I've attached a video of my review (as well as an intro to the build I'm starting on it) from my YouTube channel I run but here are a couple pointers I didn't mention that may be notable in hindsight.



Construction: It looks like it was 3D printed which I was sceptical at first however once installed it looks really sharp.

Features: Apart from the array of gauges available at the touch of a button, there are analog wires if you want to add further readings to the gauge.

Upside: Sleek "OEM" like design, I won't say it's perfect but I really like it. Tons of info, likely more than I need. 0 to 60 isn't a selling point for me but fun none the less. Really easy to install, probably took 15 min to do max. I'm a lot more conscious of how I drive. Not exclusive to P3, but the LED reading in the line of sight with the tachometer keeps temps visible at all times.

Downside: It's not the cheapest at $399, however if you're planning on throwing on a few gauges, you're already past the $ amount. You only get one reading at a time, for me that's plenty however I could see a benefit of having boost and coolant temp available to view at the same time while tracking.

Hopefully you'll find this helpful, I'll be doing various other installs and reviews on my Mini as I go through the build.

I also installed a P#. It was pretty simple. I have a 2009 CooperS turbo and the temp guage runs at 220 degrees while driving. I called P# and got " maybe small engines run hot" Anyone have a good answer for me?

Installed my P3 Cars VIDI about 18-months ago...and that seems normal. My 2013 Clubman S runs about 215-230º F, a bit cooler in Sport mode.

I really like this approach, but $399 is just too much....running Torque pro on an old phone right now....replaced my ScanGauge II.....

Neither is pretty, but the Torque/phone approach is functional and cheap....too many other mods to spend on right now!

I just installed on on my Roadster yesterday. It gives me some much needed gauges, but I do have a question. Where would the green "dimmer" wire hook up to?

I am trying to install the gauge but unfortunately they don't have any documentation and I can't seem to find anything on the internet. I think I have the gauge installed in the right spot but the wire doesn't look right. Any ideas?
