Cooper flag sunroof install

Hello,

I briefly searched for sunroof flag install and I didn't see any threads on it. Has anyone done his/her own and if so, how difficult was it? I am having the xpel installed this weekend and the flag won't be here in time for that so it will be a self install. It will be the sunroof only..no roof.

So, will I turn the flag into a big wad of 3m film or ?

Sunroof install is a breeze, as the flag will come precut. Typical DIYer can do it. Still if you are unsure of your abilities, check in the local yellow pages for window tinting. It shouldn't cost you more than $20 -$25 to have a professional do the job.

I had some troubles with mine, altho it turned out to be defective. Just make sure your two pieces look to be the same (I had one that was one layer and on that was two).

Biggest tip is do NOT stretch it as it does so easily and this will cause wrinkles. Bubbles are OK and can be removed later but not wrinkles. Definately have a second person, just to help you hold a corner. Don't press so hard when installing as this can stretch and cause wrinkles, also you may need to pull back an inch to fix something. Afterwards when all is said and done, go over it with more force to seal it in. Bubbles may go away after a few daily heat cycles but a quick pinhole makes them dissappear instantly.

Just some scissors to cut back some of the backing.

Hello,

My friend and I installed the sunroof flags today. The first one took a while because it ended being a little too long. We must have stretched by pulling back to take the bubbles. I dont think we have wrinkes but there are some lines in the checkered flag. Overall, it looks good. We took so long on the first one that the 3m primer dried up in the tube so we installed the second without the 3m primer. Cooperflags gave us some 3m tape and the instructions say to tape the edges. We didn't know how to get it to stick so we left if off for now. Anyone know how to get it to stick? The second cover took a whole ten minutes to get on and lines up nicely with the front cover. Overall, a decent job for two ams. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Don't worry about the tape, it is not needed and IMO it also looks bad. They only supply enough to do the edges of half the sunroof. My second cover, they didn't even give me tape. But to answer the question, it actually is adhesive and has a backing that you need to peel off. It's hard to see and start but it is there.

Here's a good shot of my new one:

Hello there..we got the backing off and it's glued to the SR but I don't know what that 3m primer is for. We either ran out or it dried up but we didn't have any left for the rear sunroof. And we either stretch it out or it was too long to begin with because we had to trim the first sunroof decal.

I don't have a shot of the roof yet. Maybe, tomorrow I'll have one up.

Where did you guys order your sunroof flag from? I can't seem to find them at any of the sites I know of.
