best location for handsfree mic?

Last Saturday I installed SonyEricsson HCB-30 bluetooth handsfree. I got 04 S model, no sunroof, and I do have that little oval plastic cover for factory mic.
So I installed mic there, pointing of course down (velcro-ed on the sides to sides of oval plastic cover).

While the clarity and volume of my voice is adequate when car is still or slow speed, it's practically unusable if driving at interstate speeds (55MPH+). To be more specific, my voice get "hidden" by road noise. I had to shout for the other side to hear me.

So, anyone has other ideas for mic mounting? Maybe mount it outside the plastic cover? Maybe in A-pillar?

Anyone?

Thanks,

Dami

I have a Nokia HF kit on my '03 S. I have a sunroof, but I placed the mic in the same spot as you, the factory location. I have no problems with people hearing me at 80. Of course, I have my windows up and sunroof closed, because I can't hear them otherwise. Try moving the mic around a little for better reception.

Bunch of people posted at mini2 - basically it was said that plenty of people are having same problem where mic is hidden behind factory plastic cover. Looks like Nokia's handsfree's mic is more sensitive than SonyEricsson.
So I moved mic from behind cover, now it's next to cover, facing me - sound is 100 times better. I'm still a bit "far away", but it's usable.
