kyriian, you might want to try taping some foil to the housing behind the light bulb. i did that to the footwells and the difference in the light output is pretty great like someone already mentioned in this thread. it looks GREAT in red and i LOVE it

i used the 9 led festoon bulb for the dome, which was much brighter then the previous one i ordered. used the foil, and was a bit brighter. ill try to post pictures up this weekend!

We put together LED lamp kits for both generations of MINI. I put Super White ones in our shop car:

You can find the kits HERE.

I went to the site, where are the 10 blubs you listed? I counted on my 06 MCS
2 next the dome, 2 in the front by the mirror, 2 in the footwells, and 2 in the puddle lights on the doors. What am i missing?

EDIT: Nevermind, i noticed you said there was one for the glovebox and the boot light, so if i dont need some of these cause i already have them can i get a partial kit?

Sorry, we just sell the complete kit to keep things simple. If you want, donate the spare bulbs to another MINI owner. Good karma...

Here's a picture of one of the multi-directional ones. (It's not in a MINI.)

Bulb kit is HERE.

It's pretty easy, but a little tedious. The map light bulbs, in particular, are a real PITA to get out. I ended up completely disassembling my overhead switch/lamp cluster, partly because I couldn't get the bulbs out, and partly because I just wanted to see what was in there.

Next time I'll just use a little pick and get the bulbs out that way...

A small flat screwdriver (or your fingernails) will pop the cover off all the bulb housings in the doors, footwells, glove box, and the boot.

I also wrote up a little FAQ about LEDs, which might help.

Did you mean for the R56? It's pretty easy for the R50/R53 (hardtop) and R52 (cabrio). For the hardtop, see post #161. For the cabrio, see post #108. Actually for the cabrio it's much easier than described there -- simply insert a credit card into the rear edge (away from the mirror) and push in to release the light module. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

Oh yeah, sorry, forgot where I was. Yes: R56 map lights, pain. R50/52/53, easy.

No. When I do, the web site will change, and I'll announce it somewhere on these forums.

I'll have those available soon, but they may require additional resistors to keep the car from thinking the lights are out. I'll post up when I have a kit available.

Another LED exterior light: See the little bumper marker lamps below. (Stock bulb on passenger side, LED bulb on driver side.) The LED matches the HID color pretty nicely. But, as I mentioned above, the resistance is different than the stock bulb so I'm working on a resistor for it.

Maybe I missed it, but I was reading a post on soldering. Do these require soldering, or is it a simple swap out?

AWESOME NEW PRODUCT!

Oznium just put out a 4 chip, 16 or 25 LED dome light wafer! These things look incredible! Every LED unit comes with an adapter set which allows you to use them with 194 plugs, festoon-type sockets - basically any dome light area. These could easily be used as 194 replacements as well with a little imagination. Given the LEDs he chose to use, these babies must be VERY bright, and they're available in many different colors. Makes me wish that I had a real dome light...

None of these bulbs require any soldering. However, if you are trying to replace exterior lights, the LEDs will look like an open circuit to the car (because of their different resistance characteristics compared to a normal bulb), and you would want to install a load resistor across the circuit. Although these normally come with tap connectors, I don't really like those, and I'd recommend proper soldering if possible.

Those are cool, but I don't think there's any way they'll fit in any of the MINI dome or map light fixtures.

I'm not sure either - my cabrio only has space for a single 194 5 LED bulb, but I know that the hard tops have a more traditional plastic dome light shield. Just thought I'd mention it since the product could very easily be used as footwell accent lighting (just use the 194 adapter and the OEM lamp housing, then stick the array anywhere you like) or even in the boot (use a festoon or 194 adapter depending on your car, then adhere the array to the underside of the privacy tray... Uses are only limited by imagination with something like this.

i think this LED array is probably the largest one you can fit in our dome lights: http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...34&SortOrder=1
