MINI spoilers (Cooper, S, Aero Kit)
What spoilers are available from MINI?
COOPER :: no spoiler https://www.northamericanmotoring.co.../nospoiler.jpg Cooper :: with the optional spoiler available from the factory https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...perspoiler.jpg Cooper S :: Stock Spoiler https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mcsspoiler.jpg MINI COOPER / MINI COOPER S :: Aero Kit Spoiler https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...erospoiler.jpg https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rospoiler2.jpg https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rospoiler3.jpg This spoiler is only available through your local MINI dealership. It is not available from the factory. What are the differences between the COOPER S spoiler and the aero kit spoiler? The aero kit spoiler does not have a gap under it like the Cooper S spoiler, and IMO it looks a little more integrated with the roofline of the MINI. How much does the aero kit spoiler cost? You can buy the Aero Kit spoiler primed or PRE PAINTED from MINI. I paid about $270 as I recall for a prepainted White spoiler at the Ralph Schomp MINI parts departement. What is involved in removing the COOPER S spoiler?
Yes! I sold my Cooper S spoiler to a Cooper owner for $100 + shipping.

There are many other spoilers like, to name the ones I know
M7 Wing http://www.m7tuning.com/mwingthumb.jpg Esqiss Spoiler (coming to a Mini near Me :) ) http://www.esquiss.fr/esquiss/v1/img/reelle/r740.jpg and on and on... |
:eek2: eek!!!
stick with the origanals provided from the factory, they are soooooooo much more tastfull or whait a little and some nicer ones will sprout up!!! just my opinion!! the bottomm one below the m7 one looks to visually heavy!! |
I like the MINI spoilers over the aftermarket ones.
I did see a nice carbon fiber aero scoop (on a black roof) that look just like the MINI OEM ones. $519

ok, tacking the aero spoiler onto my shopping list now:smile: i never realized how good it looks until those picks, thanks DiD

Remember you can purchase a painted version from your dealers parts department. My dealer stocked white and black, but you can order the aero kit spoiler from your dealer painted in any of the stock MINI colors (if you have the body color roof).

How much does a painted one cost? Does the install just consist of undoing the bolts and removing the spoiler/tape, and then reapplying?
|
I wish I would have gotten the Aero Kit spoiler instead of the stock one for my MC

As I said in the first post, I would take this to a body shop and get them to do it. It cost me $60 to get mine installed, and that was money well spent IMO since the aero spoiler was properly installed and my "S" spoiler was in excellent shape after the face and I could sell that to help recoup some of the cost. |

How about this ugly thing?
|
I "almost - Kinda" like the idea of the Mid hatch.
If they matched a upper and mid. It would resemble some of the World Rally set ups. Or the Mercury Merkur (although the Merc just may be a bad example) Been thinking how to get my hands on a second wing. or is that just bling ? |

That's basically it, but the aero kit spoiler doesn't have any bolts to it. It's a purely taped/bonded operation. The body shop I went to did NOT use the MINI adhesive. They bonded mine into place and then taped/braced the spoiler while the adhesive reached it's initial cure. As I said in the first post, I would take this to a body shop and get them to do it. Hey Dave,
Did you happen to watch the body shop remove your "S" spoiler? I need some maintenance done to my spoiler stripes and it would be easier if it was off the car.I know it has two bolts with double sided tape holding it on,I just wanted to know how much swearing is involved in the removal process,if it's worth the hassle taking it off,or if I should flip the guy a little more cake to do it on the car. Thanks |
I don't think it would be a big deal to get off, but you'll have that doubleback foam tape to clean off of both the hatch lid and the bottom of the spoiler at two locations. Then you'll need to get new doubleback tape. Just my $0.02, but I think I would just try to leave the spoiler in place if you could.

I was leaning towards leaving it on,your 2 cents helped the decision. Thanks for the quick reply.

Is the Hamman spoiler carbon fiber or something??? $450-$500 is a bit high

Can anyone identify this Aero kit?
I am in Italy, and this is from the Italian accessory brochure. I haven't seen an Aero kit on the road yet. -Pete |
