Rear seat delete with extra storage access
3 Attachment(s)
Picked up the MINI last Friday already knew that the rear seat was not going to be in use much at all so I went ahead and did a rear seat delete but wanted to use the extra storage under the board.
Materials needed: - Scissor to cut the foam and fabric - MDF board from Home depot or so - 3M Headliner glue spray (picture below) - 2x 1/2" Bolt/nut/lock washer - 4x Hinge rings (to slide the bolts through using the existing rings in car) 1. Take the seats out obviously  2. Take measurements for the board, cut it out and test fit before doing anything else. 3. Bolt on the hinge rings on the board Attachment 155163 4. 3M glue the foam on the board Attachment 155164 Attachment 155165 |

5. Fabric on, then press it with something heavy, used a tire to push it down and wait 30ish minutes.
Attachment 155133 Attachment 155134 6. Clean up the edges, staple the fabric on, cut around the hinges. Attachment 155135 7. Bolt up the board in the car! Attachment 155136 Attachment 155137 8. DONE! Attachment 155138 Attachment 155139 |

Optional: Foam in the storage area (did that to reduce the road noise and to reduce the rattling when items are in the storage area)

I don't think that is cardboard. More like fibreboard.

Awesome!
How/where did you bolt the hinges to the car? |

The hinge concept is a great idea!

Looks real good.
Excellent use of the legacy wheel. |
After realizing how easy it is to put these seats in and out, I am curious where you got your carpeting materials from? If I can do this for cheap I'll do it.

You coulda just bought a Clubman and be swimming in space just by adding a piece of carpet ($8 @ Home Depot and rubber backed) while still keeping your seats if ever needed and little bit of access from the side (behind seats with the 3rd door. Also, the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper Clubman are essentially the same from the 2 side doors forward--they only differ from the rear of the two front seats to the back.

yes, but I bought my s quickly as I much needed a new vehicle and got it for a steal.. so...
Most of the time I have more room than I'll use, but from time to time I stop by on of our suppliers to pick up some tv's for work since I live fairly close and it'd be nice to have. |
Hey this looks great. I like your idea for the hinges. I did a rear seat delete over the summer, and I may retrofit mine to accommodate the hinge idea. Here's mine:

Great idea! Contemplating on a DIY rear seat delete too. Just wondering... does the hinge rattle?
