R58/59 OEM front lip on a 2011+ R56?

Like the title says, anyone here tried fitting the standard MCS R58/59 lower front lip on a 2011+ MCS R56?
I like the way it looks, just a little more aggressive than the std MCS part, and totally OEM.
It looks like it should be the same in terms of fitment, but it would be good to know if anyone has already done this successfully without fitment issues?

miniSherlock92 07-14-2013 11:33 AM

the actual bumpers are the same part numbers, so they technically have to be interchangeable. I've been thinking of doing the same to my r56 Cooper, with the r59 Cooper lip.

mikeyb74 07-15-2013 12:15 PM

Like minisherlock said the bumper covers are the same part so the spoilers are interchangeable. I've seen it done.

donuttang 07-16-2013 01:16 AM

anyone has the part number?

I thought that's the Jcw one. Would it fit 2007 r56?

I don't see why not but if your are going to swap bumpers why not just go for the JCW?

The R58 Coupe lip will fit any 2011+ R56. The difference are the little protruding "fangs". Obviously a JCW aero lip will not fit the stock S bumper.

And its done. Direct fitment, no issues.
Very subtle change but i do like it,

Nice. Should come like that from the factory. How much was it for the part? And where did you get it from?

I got it from my local dealer, it was 199+tax because they were willing to price match the online sites selling the part

ECSTuning 10-16-2013 10:15 AM

Looks very nice  Looks great on the Cooper S bumper.

Did you just replace the main section?

Thanks

S'poreSTI 10-16-2013 10:20 AM

Yes, that's it, part #9, the R58 part directly replaces the R56 part.
It reuses all the fitment clips and the rubber flaps (#11) just swap over

ECSTuning 10-16-2013 10:25 AM

Great.

Looks great on your MINI, its like it should be like this from the factory, makes the front look more aggressive without changing over the whole bumper  BTW the Spice Orange on white stripes. Great combo.

iminir56 11-16-2013 11:46 AM

Thanks to Mike from ECSTuning, i got this done in no time! Let me know what you guys think!

Your Welcome. Its adds a more aggressive look. Without replacing the whole bumper.

Looks Good! try getting a pic with some better lighting at the front, it really accentuates the difference.
Here's a couple we got after the car was just detailed, in the sun the lip looks great, the indentation really stands out.

Cool, how difficult is the removal and install?

ECSTuning 11-27-2013 06:07 AM

S'poreSTI - Nice pic , does show the aggressive lip better. Really changes the front end for such a little touch. Looks very clean, also you caught a southwest airplane checking out your MINI (top pic). :)

Magnuman 12-19-2013 06:44 PM

Do you know if this will retrofit for a 2010 R56S, Cooper S Hatchback?

ECSTuning 12-20-2013 05:38 AM

Here is the info I have:

We have confirmed this to fit the 2011+ MINI Cooper S R56 ( with the stock S bumper ).
It should fit then the R55 R57 models with that bumper and year , comes from the R58 & R59 Cooper S.

The 2010 and below have a different part number 51112756497 which should be on your 2010 MINI Cooper S. And some JCW cars that did not have the JCW Aero kit.

For the stock 2011+ Cooper S lower spoiler 51117255108 which can be switched out for 51112759225 below .

They look very close in design, I can see the tabs the in the center and it looks like the old design has more tabs and the bottom when flip up has the same general holes, I can tell for sure if it will fit.

Thanks and hope that helps.

Magnuman 12-22-2013 09:13 AM

What about the upper bumper portion?
Also, is there a different # for a non textured bottom?
I have my wheel arches and lowered bumper painted to match body.
The reason, I like this style of front valence is that is doesn't sit as low as the
JCW aero kit. The style shown in the thread is about 2 inches in height difference, which is critical for my driveway.

Thank god I saw this thread this will be my next project!: >
