I'd love to see an aftermarket spoiler that was shaped such that it would take airflow from the roof and direct it down the back hatch. This "airwash" would help keep the dust, dirt, and pollen from being sucked onto the hatch by the inmous MINI vortex.

My ideal version of this would not extend very high or be very noticable - just a low-profile smooth curvy spoiler that would also serve this useful purpose.

Kind of like the MCS spoiler but smarter. What do you think? Anyone handy with fiberglass?

Ummmm, that would produce lift at the rear wheels, or at the very least a lot of drag

Such a device exists; I've seen it on 70's era conversion vans and Chevy Suburbans, etc.

I feel your pain on the dirty boot issue, but I think you might be better off putting a coat of Rejex on your boot and hosing it off regularly.

Old Pathfinders used to have those. It took me a while to figure out why, they'd mount a wing like that...

I don't have the numbers but since I put the lower diffuser on the car the rear hatch has been a lot cleaner. I noticed a bigger differance in this regard than when I added the top mount wing.Randyhttp://www.maxmini.net/images/newpics2/diff2.JPG

Where is that lower diffuser available from?

Sorry, but I don't believe it. Cough up the numbers!

Show me a 4 dimensional chart depicting dirt accumulation as a function of vehicle speed,
change in airflow direction and air pressure across the boot!

Make note of the ambient temperature, humidity, and lunar phase during testing.

Metric units please!

As for the Rejex stuff, I tried it once and it worked well, but I got a little too
much overspray onto my skin and have not had a date since! Single MINI Motorers
should use with great caution and protective clothing to avoid accidental exposure

I guess if you're not worried about looks, just go spoilerless. The regular MC without the spoiler stays cleaner.

I'm more worried about brake dust on my white wheels than boot dust.. it at least washes right off!

maxmini Apr 17, 2004 10:07 PM

Yucca I will leave the car over at JPL for the week and they promise me they might be able to come up with some numbers for you even if they don't understand the question
