nice iPod!

minihune Mar 14, 2004 11:52 PM

Nice.
Are the doors red leather or red painted?
They look leather.

Thought of covering the dash in red leather?

On your dash it looks like it is silver except for the airbag cover which is anthracite.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments. Well the doors were spray painted with some flexible paint for vinyl I think. I stil have to clean it up a bit, the red bled through the masking tape so I have to go over it one more time. I originally had an anthracite interior, but wanted to lighten things up. I left the airbag as is, because I'm scared to take that panel off. I think it looks fine the way it is, plus I don't want to end up paying money if the aribag goes off.

looks good man, keep it up

scooterboy Mar 15, 2004 05:07 AM

Nice job! Hey Ivan, did you see the IPod cupholder thread I put in the Audio forum? Check it out.

dcsmd007 Mar 15, 2004 05:45 AM

Looking Good! The red MOMO gear, e-brake, and pedals accessories accentuate the interior nicely.

The anthracite airbag panel stands out from the rest of the silver panels. The passenger airbag panel is not connected to the airbag directly, but rather a cover over the airbag. To remove it, the dash top has to be removed first by unscrewing 3 screws at both ends of the dash top. This is accessible with the door opened and the end caps removed to reveal the screws. After the dash top is removed, there are 2 screws holding the panel in place.

Ivan,

Looks good. My question is, why did you spend the money on the Harmon Kardon, when you ended up just ripping it out and replacing it?

X2Board Mar 15, 2004 06:10 AM

That is a great looking interior, what head unit is that and is the nav DVD based?

MGCMAN Mar 15, 2004 06:13 AM

Very nicely done. The red and black interior goes exceptionally well with the PS exterior.

It looks great, especially the doors.

You should paint that passenger air-bag cover, though. It won't look finished unless you do.

I know it can be done, as others have painted their whole dash.

>>That is a great looking interior, what head unit is that and is the nav DVD based?

It looks like the same unit I have in one of my other cars. I believe it's a Pioneer head unit with DVD player and DVD-based GPS navigation.

It was the only PS/PS available with all 3 packages plus I never intended to mod my MINI. I realized after, how much money I could've saved. Oh well.

My navigation system is an older version: Pioneer AVH-P6400CD and the Pioneer AVIC-9 DVD Navigation unit.

Thanks for the link Yellow Coop, I wish they had one for the iPod mini. I hate the case I have now, but it's the only one they offer. I want a hard case like the one I had for my old iPod.

Dave - thanks, I'll try that soon, after I asked the dealer how to take that piece off, they told me that I would literally break my arm since the airbag will go off. I'll risk it and see what happens.

How did you get that small aftermarket gas pedal on the MINI pedal? Did you have to drill holes????

hafid Mar 15, 2004 09:29 AM

Looks fantastic! I love the pedals! Well done mate!

Hey gro, yeah I drilled hole's in the gas pedal.

Yo Haf - thanks man... hey I wanted to ask you, what kind of camera you have? Those are some professional pics. Looks like something MINI would use for their ads. Nice work.

ZAKdog Mar 15, 2004 10:49 AM

cocomats are a nice subtle touch!

Nice, well, for the exterior, I'm not finished, but I will try to have everything done by Socal vs. Norcal. I'm just shopping around for the best paint prices. I have a few things here and there that've changed. But I don't want to show it till it's complete. I'm halfway towards my goal and after that I should stop spending and start saving

the Brabus? that would be my lovely mother's, we are a Mercedes family. My 1st car was a'91 190E, my sister's car was a '00 SLK 230, my brother's is a '04 CLK 500 Cabriolet, and I have the Faaaabulous MINI.

Jimbo - I got those cocoa mats at www.cocomats.com They have a few color combinations for the MINI, check it out...

Marcomini Mar 15, 2004 11:36 AM

jivanivan,

Interior looks great.

Got a question for you. Did you have to do any mods to the adapter or anything else to fit the MOMO brake handle on?

And were the boots custom fit? Part #'s?

cooper44 Mar 15, 2004 12:08 PM

Ivan,
How do you like your MOMO pedals? My little @ss feet always slip around, especially when heel/toeing.

Craig
