Does anyone know how to re-install the secret compartment door?

I removed the door to the secret compartment from the two arms a few years ago when I installed my head unit into the location. I've sinced moved the head unit and recently tried to reinstall the door.

The door is assembled with 4 pins, and 2 springs. The 4 pins are obvious where they go, however I'm not sure if I got the 2 springs correct. At this point its all back together and somewhat works.

The door sometimes does not catch to lock closed, and instead just pops back open. Its possible its the latching on the underside of the "cubbie" which has the mechanisms to lock and unlock the door, but just curious if it was my re-install. Does anyone have photos or has done this?

I may find time to take it apart and play with it outside of the car first. It may just need some grease on the spring rollers underneath the cubbie.

I have nto had mine out for abut 3 years but from what i remember the catch is on the left side as looking from the front of the cubbie when pulled out. I has a single spring on it that can be set so that the door can not be opened. And if that is not in the correct place it will not latch closed properly either.

But of course this is just from my memory of 3+ years ago.

Good Luck with getting it to stay closed.

Thanks Schatzy. I think I will have to pull it out to re-evaluate. I think I do have the springs within the door and latch correct, as there were a few clues of where the spring legs would sit, though I can't seem to reverse engineer its function just yet. Maybe when I pull it out I'll see better.

I think having it out and stored for a long time got the grease spring rollers under the cubbie dirty/wiped off, so it just doesn't like to open/close smoothly. It needs the slightest touch from my finger to help.

Though, it DOES close, just not every time.

Thanks for the tips.
