I'm thinking of getting a different shift knob. Besides the factory color leather knobs, what are the other options for MINI? MOMO offers many designs and seems to be quite popular in general. Whalen appears to be the choice for BMW and MINI enthusiasts.

Has anyone replaced the shift knob? Pictures would be great!

Trippy, nice design on your knob!

Jack, I like the looks of the chrome, but is it hard to keep shiny?

d-mini-ero 02-20-2004 04:32 PM

I have a Whalen as well....
It has my D-MINI-ERO logo engraved on it...
I can't find the pic though

Peace,
D

Love my Whalen--best money I ever spent!

I have the MOMO shift knob, can't remember the model but, its the all leather one and, it fit fine on my stock shifter. Got it from Out Motoring for $49.95. Fits my hand much better for more positive shifts and not cold in winter or hot in summer. Took about 5 min. to make the swap.

I always shop over on Flame Balls.com... and no, it aint what it sounds like...

(thread topic drift warning...)

That shift knob is one of the best bits of "irony" I've seen in a while. I thought lithium was supposed to be used to curb manic moods, not instill them!

That said, I'm sure yours is a better treatment for depression than the pharmacy's version, any day.

Cheers!

How is the MOMO knob secured onto the shaft?
Besides Whalen, I also like MOMO SPHERE in blue to match the blue interior of the car.

Rat Fink!!!!!

dcsmd007 02-20-2004 10:06 PM

Just received a reply from Whalen and unfortunately, he's unable to engrave the design I wanted. So I might go with MOMO Sphere withe blue leather insert.

I'm a Whalen enthusiast since last September.
A little small knob but it's just my palm size.
Plus, it's much heavier so that you can enjoy different shift feeling and I love it!
