Egg yoke removal question

I'm considering removing the egg yokes from my headlights. I removed one of my headlights and can see how this is done but I have a question. Can the egg yokes be replaced if I change my mind? Do I need to completely disassemble the headlight housing or is there enough room to squeeze my fingers under the turn signal and snap the egg yoke back into place?

By "Yolk" do you mean the entire lense for the indicator light is amber, or there's an amber bulb inside the fixture itself?

If you mean the yellow lense, its held by 4 torx screws which requires removing the lense

the bulb you can do w/out removing the lense.

The bulbs can be changed to the "stealth" bulbs:

I'm talking about removing the amber lens. I already have the chrome coated amber bulbs. The question is can I reinstall the amber lens without tearing the headlight housing apart?

No it is attached via 4 torx bolts that need to be unscrewed from the back of the light housing.

headlight apart

remove reflector

remove yellow lens

reverse order

You do not mention if you have Halogen or Xenon lights but here is a documented procedure for the Halogens. Have seen one for the Xenons to if you were to search you would probably find it.

I have a 2010 with halogen headlights. I know how to remove the lens; it is held in by two clips on either side of the turn indicator housing. Removing the 4 torx screws just allows you to remove the bulb holder to gain access to the bayonet clips on the lens. Once the lens is removed it just falls into the headlight housing and then you can get it out by tipping the headlight housing and allowing the lens to fall out thru the back of the housing. The real question is whether you can reinstall the lens by dropping it back into the housing and somehow snapping it back into place without having to totally disassemble the housing (with an oven or heat gun).

I think you'll be able to get them back on if needed (I kept my lenses for that "just in case" too). It's a tight squeeze but if you rattle around the lens into position a small hand can reach in and snap it back into place.

Taking out the amber lenses are really easy. I'm sure they can go back on, just will take a little more time to finesse yourself around.

Just removed those amber lenses from my R56 with Xenon and headlights washer system. Takes about 20mins for each side if you have the right tools (one size torque wrench and two different sizes of torx drivers).

The amber lenses and be placed back anytime in the future just by reversing the process!

The only differnce when removing it on cars with with Xenon and headlights washer system is that you need to unscrew the indicator lights housing. With normal headlights without headlights washer system you do not need to as there is space for the lens to fall out after poping it into the main housing!
