FOUND! See my post two down!

A fellow MINI owner told me he heard about a device that can be attached to the third taillight which will make it flash when the brakes are deployed. The purpose being to make the MINI more noticable when stopping. I've also heard of a replacement lamp that will flash like a strobe. Any one aware of such a device or something that will do the same?

Here is the info from the Madison MINI Group I have seen them and they look pretty cool. I have a similar set on my motorcycle, but have not done it in the car.

Just an update on this. I went to the link ernesto provided and followed a link I found there for a "Blinker" or a more technical term "Automatic Brakes Initiated Annunciator".

This thing is cool! Even better was the price I got on a group buy I arranged. Over a dozen of us in Texas and Louisanna took advantage of the great discount and I personally installed 4-5 during a "Blinker Party". I don't have any financial stake in the company and did not get a free device or any discount bette than the rest of the members. I suggest you visit the site and check it out your self. If you are interested in gaining a significant discount (almost 50%) get an order of 10 or more together.

NOTE: If you have an MC with an accessory Spoiler, please figure out how to remove it before doing this mod. The light assembly can't be removed unless this is done. There are no issues on a non spoiler MC or an MCS with spoiler.

I typed up detailed directions that apply to the MINI. Any of you who would like a copy emailed to you feel free to PM me.

Be safe, Let's Blink!

Stuart

I'm not sure that a "flashing" 3rd brake light is legal... Hm...

Cool though...

In Texas they are leagal. They do not flash the whole time. They send out 5 or so flashes then go solid. If you are in stop & go traffic, there is a time interval before they will flash again. You have to be off of your brake for a few seconds (10-20) before they will flash again. This is a great inexpensive mod that will draw more attention to your brake lights. I bought it and installed it at the "blinker party" and love it!

Safety is priceless, but ouch!

Did you pay $32.95? Our group came up with a purchase of 20 units and paid $11 per unit shipping inlcuded. Buying only one would cost $19.

I'm practically in the 10k club Besides, these are "intellegent" version. The flashes decrease dependent on times between application.
