Flares(Arches) Clear Indicator lens??
I've been trying to find a set of the clear rectangular curved lens that go on the arches/flares(as the dealer calls it). Does anyone got any idea where i could get these or maybe its a good idea not yet produced. Trying to get rid of the orange from the front orange pair and the red back pair and change them to a clear style.

Needless to say, if you find some I'd be interested as well. The red ones don't bother me so much as the yellow ones do. Want to be rid of the yellow as it's the only thing on my car that isn't red, black, white or a shade of grey. |

I thought about trying to cast my own pair, but I'd almost certainly have to try a couple of times to get it right and that would get expensive quick. Then I thought about getting quotes from a couple of places who do small run plastic parts manufacturing and getting a few dozen or so sets made up to sell, but I'd hate to be stuck with a bunch if there aren't enough folks looking to buy them.

Yeah it be great if a vendor or someone one will create a "turn all orange lens to clear kit" with all the lens in orange on the Mini to clear. Unless everyone who is interested (serious buyers) answers to this thread if interested and we rack up a dozen buyers and grueinthebox has his buyers so grueinthebox doesn't get stuck with unsold sets to sell.
You can count me as buyer #1 on the list if you like. Anyone else? |
I 'painted' mine with a dyed clear coat. (The lights are) Easy to get off, and just a tiny amount of clear coat. They look really black in the pic, but a bit of color does show through. They are still clearly visible at night. I also did the rear tails. You can still see my parking lights in direct sun light, but the color is washed out when they're off.

Or just cover them with trimbrite blackout tape
|
How do you pop them out?
|
i should have taken pictures of the process
first you buy the tape second clean the reflector third cut tape to a nice length which covers the indicator lens fourth use a plastic window tint applicator to apply tape on the flat part of the lenses you can buy at auto zone, i bought the kit that comes with a razor blade, both come in handy fifth cut the tape while applied on the lenses, from the outer perimeter, which is the one closest to the fenders. sixth use the plastic applicator to stick the edge of the tape to the inside of the lense it will make sense once you have the tape i believe its 4 dollars on line http://www.amazon.com/BLACK-OUT-TAPE.../dp/B00029XD62 |
If you want to remove them, there are 2 nuts on each of the front ones, and 1 on each of the rear. You'll need to pull down your fender liner to get to them.

Here is a question i've had for sometime now. Do R50,R52 or R53 arch/flares indicator rectangular lens fit on a R56?
