I don't have a clear bra, but when I travel 90 miles or over I painters tape the front of my car and it pretty much keeps it stone chip free. Here are some pictures
Griot's garage has a plastic film that you cut and apply to areas....much easier than painters tape. you can leave it on for a day or a week and it just peels right off without any ill effects. This is especially good for going on a trip where you might be driving at night and just annihilating bugs. Pull it off the next morning and voila......clean car and you throw the plastic in the garbage can.

I cant' imagine doing that every time I go 90mph... it's time consuming!
We did it once, when we drove it 60 miles of freeway to get a clear bra installed.

Does anyone run their MINI 'naked?' and are the stone chips really that bad?
Thanks
Tyler
I bought my 03 used and it has 1 really unsightly stone chip, so yes, they can be.
I would be much happier with little dirt edges around my clear bra than have to look at (and clean around) some of the stone chips my car has... Just my $.02
The dealer has decided to replace it. Sorry, I have been having too much fun in my loaner' a lightning blue s convert!!! It makes me not miss my own car as much...
YA SERIOUSLY! Well, let me explain a little. I am in college so I do not travel that many miles because most things are at a maximum like 20-30 miles away. When I go home for breaks etc. I travel over 200 miles so that's when I usually painters tape my car. I would probably do this 3-4 times a semester so I don't do it that often.
So, I just picked up my car 3 weeks later. But it has been worth it, the bra is nearly flawless with just one small bubble they promised to remedy if it doesn't work out over the next few weeks. They did however, chip a headlight ring, both parts of the grilles surround, and the lift handle, but bought me 2 cans of plastidip to do the repair. Kudos to John of MINI of Pittsburgh, he is a great guy, and helped tremendously.
HMMM lets see, rock chips in my paint costing hundreds of dollars or a $6 dollar roll of painters tape. I think I choose the latter.
Rock chips aren't visible from a few feet away from your car; that ugly painter's tape is visible from space. If you're really concerned about the chips, then a clear bra is well worth the cost, and your car will look great 100% of the time, rather than repulsive when covered in tape.
I have the Xpel version of this product; it was installed on my 2001 325i when it was new and all pieces have held up well. No edges have come loose but this was my biggest concern with this type of product.
No way to know if this was an installation or product quality issue.
