Bought some Lamin-X for my fogs and had leftover so I decided to do the turn signals as well. In the process, I sprayed the orange bulbs with a thin coat of silver paint. I also Plastidipped my arch lights. What do you all think?

Fogs and turns look real good. Can't see your arch lights in this pic though...which is great!

looks good!
i really want the arch lights for mine, seems like all US modders want to get rid of them and all UK modders want to add em!

I originally liked the look of the arches, but once I added the yellow, there was too mant colors.

I think I'm going to add yellow Nokya bulbs to the parking lights and fogs. At night time, they just look like a really dull white. I hear the Lamin-X plus yellow bulb really make them stand out.

I went to install the yellow fog and parking bulbs today. Passenger side went smoothly, looks a LOT better. When I got to the driver side, turns out the previous owner replaced a cracked foglight with a later style one that takes an H11 bulb, not H7

Now I need to spend another $20 on a set of H11 bulbs. I guess the positive side is I will have a replacement set if I ever need them...

Here's a comparison pic (can't really tell the difference in the fogs, but it's there)

left yellow bulbs, right clear bulbs

Looks good! I want to see the arch lights! Do the bulbs shine through at all? or are they just black?

plasticknives May 19, 2010 04:40 PM

I actually just noticed today the bulbs shine around the edges, most likely where the Plastidip is thin. I think I'm just going to unplug those bulbs so there's no seeping light.

I have a concern about the h7/h11 variance though. The h7 nokya bulbs are 55/70w and the h11 are 55/80w. Do you think this 10w difference in output will be a noticeable difference in brightness?

Most likely not....since brightness is just like sounds, and follows the inverse square rule....something has to be 4x brighter to appear just two times as bright...so the slight wattage difference will likely be not more more than the difference between a older halogen and a newer halogen bulb....(if you look at halogen bulbs, the "brighter" bulbs, like "NightHawk" actually use a shorter filament, that runs hotter, with a shorter life...so even within a spec...h7/h11 there is some variation)....so you might be able to perceive a difference, but unless you are looking for it, I doubt you will notice it. It is more likely there will be a beam pattern difference between the newer/older lights though.....
It does look pretty cool...unconventional, but cool....no fried egg look!!

Here are a few more pictures (will post a complete night shot once it gets dark in about an hour). A better comparison shot and a couple with the new H11 bulb. Can't notice any difference in brightness which is good.
