Interior/Exterior Anybody Install a Reliable Electronic Compass?
>>I wish this was integrated in our MINIs, but I do need to add this feature. Any good ideas from the aftermarket side?

I felt the same way and I actually found one that works well.
My MCS was the 1st car in many years thatI I've owned that did not have a compass.
I bought a Wayfinder V700 "Hike & Drive Compass".
It was bout $60
Dually functions as a field compass and a driving compass.
Mounts easily.... with a sturdy bracket.... on the windshield.

I too am looking for one. I found one at http://www.weatheraffects.com. It's an auto compass and thermometer and can be powered through your cigarette lighter. It's part # CA 5205 and coasts $59.95! Anyone see or have one of these?
Thanks for the feedback; I'm checking them out right now.
Background to my enquiry:
I bought an electronic compass from Sears last Sunday, on sale of course. Works fine, BUT since it's battery operated it requires one to push the advance button to activate, and then it goes to sleep.
I want to hardwire a compass as I did my radar detector to have on and ready I hit first gear.
Keep the new product ideas coming, there has to be one that can be easily hardwired and mounted to the left or right of the rear view mirror.
Happy T-Day

Here's a link to PNI's website: http://www.pnicorp.com/family?nodeId=c15
I am going to get the V2000: http://www.pnicorp.com/productDetail?nodeId=c18
Good options and dual power mode. Going to mount it on the plastic piece that the sunroof switch is mounted to. Can probably source power from the clock. I'm going to mount on a swivel if it doesn't come with one. Then I can swing it up if I'm not using it and down to use it.
These are going for approximately $20-$30 on eBay brand new. Do a search for digital compass and it should pull up 2-3 pages of stuff.
Hope this helps.
