Stupid Question... License Plate Bulb Lenses

Hi Everyone,

Dumb question, I know. I recently replaced my license plate bulbs with blue tinted bulbs for a "whiter" look. However, in the process I broke the clip off of one of the lenses. I got a new one from my local Mini Dealer, but now I can't get either of them back on! What is the "proper" way to reinstall them without breaking something? Do I need to use a small screwdriver and push the metal clip in? I've tried pushing pretty hard with no tools and it just feels like it's going to break the clip off!

If anyone can provide "dummy proof" instructions on the best way to reinstall these I would really, really appreciate it.

Thanks!

From what I recall. I had to push the lens to one side (that had a spring clip) then push in the other side. I recall it being a little tight.

So push the metal part in first then push the plastic clip in? That's what I've been afraid to try because that plastic clip is pretty flimsy...

You are right the plastic is cheap and can break easily but I believe that is the way to do it. You can use a screwdriver to push/pry the lens into the metal side as much as possible to but less stress on the plastic.

Yes, very cheap and brittle. I got rid of mine totally. I have LED strips mounted and wired into the electrical connectors. Very bright and lights up the plate better. Will take pictures and post soon.
