I didn't know that on the areo kit back bumper where the exhaust exit's there is TWO decals, I thought this was a real metal grait. ?????? is this true? and if so is there anyway to just not have them install this, and just to have them paint it instead.

Does the decal look bad? anybody have any close up pic's?

Thanks for your replys.

Well you kind of answered your own question. If you didn't know they were stickers, they must look good.
I haven't seen it done yet, but I know of some who want to cut out that part and put in real metal work. I have also seen some who have just painted them black themselves.
Hope this helps

Yes it is true- the decals are white. They can be painted and the decal itself left off or some sort of grill can be inserted into the two areas on the rear bumper. Most people just put on the decals.

I don't think it looks bad but up close you can tell they are decals.

For as much as the kit costs, Mini should have just gone the extra mile and at least put on black plastic grates like that on a normal S bumper.

Thanks for the Pictures MiniHune,

I think I am going to tell them not to put the decal on and just paint it the same color as the car, later on I might put some real metal in.

yumm... aero kit + R90's. i have the 'decal' on the rear bumper too and it looks pretty good imo. i didn't notice it wasn't a real mesh until i was washing
my car the next morning.

i think it'll look even better with a light tint over the fake mesh.

I'm not a big fan of faux mesh. I removed the decals and used a little adhesive remover. It looks much better without them!

Actually i have been pondering placing brake lights down there what do you all think? I think it would look killer to have lights comming from undr the mesh.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

6f7- yah, the rear bumper looks bigger without the mesh which is a good thing.
did your body shop paint the fender arch part gloss? mine is mattblack to match
the plastic arches.

hahaha, believe me, it just a difference in opinion. real mesh would be a pita
to keep clean back there especially since there is a lot of tire kickup.

i prefer the faux mesh..why not? the arch on the bumper is painted matt black
and is a faux fender arch anyway?

I think it all depends on the color of the car and whether it's an S or not. The dark theme on 6f7's Cooper looks great but it wouldn't be as effective on the EB S. It depends on what image you are after.

I have the aero kit with decals, however they are not white, but brush metal stickers. You can't tell at all that it's fake. I say get it...

I didn't care for the fact that they were stickers, so I didn't get them either. Plus they wouldn't have looked good with the look I'm going for.

right now i have left mine blank. the stick they give was silver and that was not working for me since the front grills are black! so i plan on having a black sticker made up to place in there. i have toyed with the idea of putting the stock rear end back on the car because of this issue. not totally sold on the aero kit rear end yet. have a look.

chad123- very nice and clean. id just leave it as is. i think it depnds on the color of the car if the faux aluminum mesh clashes or not (?) it goes well with the indiblue which i have.
