Just did the swap myself..WARNING though..
I would tape the top of your bumper with painters tape to protect it from scratching the hell out of it like i just did. The lower tabs on the chrome could damage the paint. Removing was fine, but when i installed the new one, the lower tabs made pretty significant grooves in the top of my bumper as I pushed it in. did not see until it was all snapped back into place. Ugh. Live and learn. Hope that helps someone. On the plus side, the black grill looks awesome with my red / black clubby.

I just put on the JCW grill on my non S miini. But now the grill piece below the bumper looks weird with the chrome stripe and different pattern. What part did you guys use for the grill piece below the bumper. I can't find any that looks like the cool ones in the pictures.

My 2008 does not have a chrome stripe in the lower OEM grill, it is all black, like the new upper grille I installed 5 years ago. The grille pattern is a little different, but you really have to look close to notice it.

JCW grills do not fit on 2012 or 2013 base MINI's. The hood design is different than earlier 2nd gen MINI's.

Here's my 2013 non S. I used JCW black grille, MCS black trim, had to trim bottom piece to match bumper. I have since blacked out all the chrome.

Installed my black grill today. Kept the chrome trim for now, but wanted to get rid of at least some of the chrome up front. May black out the headlight rings next.

I'm aware this is an old topic but I'm in the same boat as you all, @Blainestang I see you had a how-to posted on some site but it's currently down. Did you (or anyone else) keep a copy of the needed part numbers for a 2009? 2010 on are different so that's why I'm asking.

what’s the part number for that grille? Been trying to upgrade a 2010 base Cooper R57 to this black grille but cannot seem to get anyone to respond with a part number. I bought one 51110442012 which fits but now the bottom part of it (chrome) doesn’t abs I was under the impression the chrome pieces remain and all that needs to be swapped is the grille?

bought a different lower chrome piece 51117209904 which fits on the grille perfectly but does not fit correctly in the bumper.

Just realized the grille above is the version with the lights, I’m looking for the the one without the lights, this (silver justa) is the look I’m going for on my 2010 Base R57 pictured underneath in white

Sorry i was out of the office , on vacation. Well... staycation.

https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2007-...r/Body/Grille/

They took the grille center from the JCW kit and then modded the lower original chrome to fit as it does not have the JCW bumper.

OR they took this and modded it to fit the lower Cooper bumper chrome. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/51137209903/

There USED to be a "JCW Grill" made by MINI that was for the 2007-2010 *non-S* Cooper specifically. It kept the regular non-S Cooper chrome trim (top and bottom) and required zero trimming or modification. That's probably what the pictured car used.

I even made a how-to for installing it back in the day:

Unfortunately, I can't seem to track down the part number for it, anymore. I assume it no longer exists, but it was nice since it required zero modifications.

Edit: Found the original box it came in, which can be seen in the How-To. The part number was 51110404122.

It's listed at ECS here: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/51110404122/

No Longer Available, as expected, but it's incorrectly listed as needing to be modified to fit the Cooper, which is not the case. Not that it matters since it's NLA! But, if someone could happen to find one in stock somewhere, it would work.

But again, that was 2007-2010 only.

For 2011+ non-S Coopers, the hood changed to the Cooper D hood, which is basically a Cooper S hood with no scoop... different from the lower-profile 2007-2010 Cooper hood.

So, for 2011+, the Cooper S / JCW grill lines up with the hood when used on the Cooper, but doesn't work with the lower grill, so non-S Coopers have to use a Cooper S lower grill and modify/trim it to work with the Cooper bumper. OR Outmotoring sells a kit with a special lower grill trim that works with both the Cooper S / JCW grill and the Cooper bumper, BUT it only comes with black trim.

In light of the post above, now knowing that the grill part # for non-S 2007-2010 Coopers was 51110404122, I looked up that number in RealOEM.

Apparently, the reason that this grill works for the Cooper is because it was the grill designed to be used with the JCW aero kit that was *specific* to the non-S Cooper. The Cooper-specific JCW Aero kit bumper is a different part # (
51110404108, Cooper ONLY) than the one for JCW MINIs (51110404109).

So, which part replaced the 2007-2010 grill, but for 2011+ Coopers? 51110442012, which apparently doesn't work with the Cooper lower trim.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...40#51130417137

So, why does 5110442012 not work on a Cooper without Cooper S lower chrome trim?

What it looks like may have happened is that they unified the JCW Aero kit bumpers for 2011+, meaning there was no longer a Cooper-specific bumper anymore that meshed with the factory Cooper trim. So, a 2011+ Cooper with JCW Aero Kit actually had a bumper that was shaped to accept the Cooper S / JCW lower trim, instead of the standard Cooper lower trim. If that's the case, that would explain why 51110442012 would require a cut/trimmed Cooper S or JCW lower grill, whereas the 2007-2010 part (51110404122) can use the regular Cooper trim.

Thank you for your response, its unfortunate that this part is no longer available, I searched as much as I could and eventually found one on ebay, the only result with that part number on the web, everywhere else said NLA. I bought it.

Great! Surprised you could find one! Who still had a new one available?

Let us know how it goes!

Has anyone tried sourcing one from a European vendor?

Asking because I bought one locally a while back from someone who told me it came standard on their euro market car.

Installed without issue on a base ‘08 club.
