I have the Whalen, I love it! It's a work of art, incredible craftsmanship. I have a polished one and I love the way it feels in my hand. And it really does make a difference in shifting!

Good luck in your decision!

Okay, okay, yes the Whalen is a BEAUTIFUL shift **** and I've really enjoyed having one adorn my shifter for the last couple months but it does have one issue. Mainly it's the "too cold, too hot" issue. As it's starting to become winter here in Ohio, I find the first 15 or so minutes of each early morning drive irritating as I grab the shifter, most of the times actually grabbing the boot for fear of freezing my hand off. On the other hand, just months ago it seemed that I was doing the same thing but for fear of scalding my hand, burning in the MINI wings and shift pattern into the palm of my hand (wasn't there an Indiana Jones movie with something like that??)

Anyway, I will probably use an alternate MOMO **** for the worst winter months and the equally worse summer months, while leaving room for the few months when I can use the 'Machine' If Doug were to make a leather wrapped version, there would be no need for any other ****..

Until then, here's a how-to for those very new to the whole modifying the car world:

and the link to a few other ***** that we offer:

I had a very good friend in my MCS that said basically the same thing – my **** was too big for her, but it’s one of those things I just can’t change.

I replaced the stock MCS **** because it was too large for me.
Some MOMO options
http://store.yahoo.com/racinglab/momoshiftknob.html

I got a smaller MOMO **** that worked OK and then a ProMini short shifter and that also worked with the MOMO ****.

My recommendation? Return it for a full refund.
You MUST know that they come with an unconditional return guarantee; no questions asked.

I would prefer not to have a dissatisfied customer out there; and since I'm having trouble keeping up with demand lately, I could really use another one!

I can now officially sing the praises...

Doug, I realize you're having trouble keeping up with the orders, but my **** shall never return to you.

Just got mine today and it's AWESOME! Everything about it is perfect: size, weight, finish... and oh, shifting! 4 to 5 is still a little stretch, but with the added weight it seems to just slip into the gate once you point it in the right direction--no more overly-deliberate action.

I officially rescind any doubts I may have had prior to and/or immediately after purchase. Totally worth it!

This coming from a girl is understandable, but I can't believe there are so many guys willing to admit their hands are too small

I have the UUC **** and love it. It's a little more pear shaped than the Whalen ****. I have held both and they are both fantastic choices. Can't lose either way.

Hi Doug, don't get me wrong, I love the Whalen ****, it's this weird love-hate relationship (hot-cold) It is so amazingly perfect in it's fit, finish, stlye, materials,...etc. It's a piece of art, I wouldn't consider returning it, it's too cool, I just have to make it fit my lifestyle, so I switch shift ***** a couple times a year...change is good...the shift ****, when not in use for the worst of the cold months, will sit in my office on display. But, maybe there could be some variation in the future that utilizes the same mechanism but is wrapped in leather? That could be rather cool...l
