OEM Aspherical mirrors for a 2009 MCS?

Trying to find mirrors like I had bought for my GTI:
http://oemplus.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=170

Looking for aspherical, not multivex, something that works with the heat function, and ideally it should replace the entire piece of glass not just go over the existing mirror. Hoping to find both the drivers and passengers side mirrors.

For some reason WA drivers seem to like to drive in your blind spots and just sit there.

I browsed the forum and found these:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...88&hg=51&fg=10

Can these be purchased online? I assume they work with the heat function.

Those are 1st gen mirrors. For a 2009 you need the 2nd gen version: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...25&hg=51&fg=10

I purchased my 1st gen aspherical mirror from newministuff in the UK. It wasn't in their catalog and I arranged for them to special order it. They filled my order, then added it to their website: http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...uctshow&id=641. You could try asking them to do the same for the 2nd gen mirror. Another UK vendor to order Euro parts is: http://www.genuinemini.co.uk

That blog entry is confusing. It isn't necessary to install a driver's side mirror on the passenger side with "Objects are closer than they appear" upside down. MINI makes all combinations for world markets (LHD/RHD). You just have to order the correct part.

Thanks for grabbing the second gen part number, was just about to go through and find it . How much did they charge for both the drivers and passengers mirrors shipped to the US? I think the Euro is still doing a bit better than the USD.

I plan on buying both sides in aspherical so flipping them shouldn't be an issue. From what I can tell unlike the VW mirror it's completely aspherical and doesn't have the line where it splits, I kind of like that a bit more. Though it seems it still has the stupid objects may be closer warning. But meh, whatever, at least it's OEM and aspherical on both sides right?

I might still try calling NWMini to find out if they can get them.

The newministuff price is £23 each for a 1st gen mirror. From what I've seen, 2nd gen parts tend to cost more than 1st gen. The exchange rate was much worse a couple of years ago when I bought mine. I don't remember how much shipping was, but probably around $25.

The OEM aspherical mirror is mild convex for the inner 3/4 of the surface, then stronger convex for the outer 1/4 (divided by the line).

Sigh... Northwest Mini apparently can't do what the other dealers can. Apparently they can't order the parts. Guess I'll try newministuff.

IF they are Euro Spec Parts NONE of the dealers in the USA can order them. That is just the way it is if they order thru normal channels, if they have a good friend in Europe that can change things.

I'd have to verify when I get home, but I believe the 1st gen aspherical mirrors have no lettering (only the standard convex mirrors do).

BTW, newministuff has the 2nd gen version in their website: http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...uctshow&id=731
