AWESOME!!! CUP HOLDER

1 Attachment(s)
Hey People,

I have to share with you.

A friend of mine, Dave, just finished making the best cupholder.
It is absolutely AWESOME. It fits in one of the small cup holders up front
and then gives you a well placed large cup holder.

I love it so much more than my Mini Fini cup holder.
Dave made a few for a group of us.

It's all welded aluminum and powdercoated
(mine is satin black).

Here is his email: dave96dcmss@yahoo.com

Looks good & functional. The black looks nice too.
Is he making more? If so, how much? I would be interested, indeed.

Goode 07-01-2009 01:27 PM

Yes, he is making more. They were either $75 or $100 I don't remember.
Well worth it. Shoot him an email and tell him you say Jeremy's cup holder.

You'll love it. I do.
It started here...

There were some similar (though not quite as nice) ones made and sold a couple of years back - that *is* a good design.

DrPhilGandini 07-01-2009 01:48 PM

Well, I always liked this one--the original design I believe:

Mine looks better, IMHO.

No that's cool  . How can I get one of those?

You'll have to find an old one, LB--I bought it in 2005 and some time after was asked about it. Looked up the company that made it (can't remember the name now) but they had gone out of business.
So I guess the new guy won't be getting any nasty letters about copyright infringement from the people who made mine.
It also means you could make one yourself if you had a metal shop. The design is very straight forward as the picture might indicate.
I actually run it on the passenger side these days, unlike as shown in the photo, because of the race seats.

BlimeyCabrio 07-01-2009 03:20 PM

Yep... that's the one I was thinking of.... It's much prettier (though not as functional) as my PVC cupholders...

ngweibing 07-01-2009 04:50 PM

love the design....

morphix 07-01-2009 06:12 PM

Looks great, I would love to get 2 of them. Is there anyway you could take a pic showing 2 of them installed, so I can see what it looks like?

Goode 07-01-2009 08:01 PM

Yah, it was based on the originals. Except it is cheaper in price and better in quality. It is all welded and seamless. Plus.....It won't crack! He is making them in powdercoated and raw finishes. He even does them different colors.
The one you have pictured was originally $150. And they are not produced any longer. I love the one I have now. It's far better than the previous one.
IMHO

DrPhilGandini 07-01-2009 08:40 PM

Can you get them in carbon fiber?

I'll take one!

dave96dcm 07-02-2009 09:19 AM

No carbon Fiber, you do not want to know how much that would cost.

I did see the ones that are pictured, looked at the design and made mine somewhat similar, but the only dimensions that are the same between that one and the ones that I make are the dimensions dictated by the car, even if they were still in buisness they wouldn't be able to say anything because mine are different. Theirs had smaller inner diameters of both pipes. The top piece is plastic on theirs and would crack and break, mine is 100% aluminum, all TIG welded then ground and sanded smooth.

The price is $100 plus shipping.

I'm making a second batch of 6, a few are ally called for

1. Audra
2. Jeremiah
3. Jeremiah's second one.
4. John
5. Dave
6.

Goode 07-02-2009 03:15 PM

I really love mine Dave! I'm so glad I got one. Pete loves his too.
The quality is awesome! They fit so nice. They don't sway, squeek, etc.

Thanks Again!
J

He needs to market it to one of the venders here and make some $$$.

Trip024 07-08-2009 03:59 PM

I realize materials, time and effort have to be factored into the cost but $100 is a little too steep for my taste...make it $50-$60 and id be all over it and I would suspect more would follow.

DrPhilGandini 07-08-2009 09:10 PM

I think you have to be a registered vendor on NAM to actually post, advertise and sell stuff here. Worth looking into.

C-Lop 07-10-2009 10:01 AM

Hmm. I think something similar can be made from PVC and plastic... I already turned one of my little cup holders into a bracket for my satellite radio, maybe encompass the two of them. The gears are turning now.

PureWorks 07-10-2009 11:25 AM

Hey Doc,
if you ever decide to go in another direction.......I'd be all over yours!!!!!

While I like the functionality of the "new" version......the cost should be half, once a mold has been completed.......but great work!

dave96dcm 07-12-2009 06:27 AM

List updated.

kendertaunt 07-12-2009 07:55 AM

I have one of Dave's too. I actually never realized how much the factory one that screws to the downtubes squeaked and creaked.

Dave's fits TIGHT and does not make a peep.:thumbsup:

chad1140 07-12-2009 02:34 PM

So when is he gonna get a batch to some vendors so I can bang a couple out on my credit card?

dave96dcm 07-29-2009 09:06 AM

I just do them on the side when I have free time, I should have a few done by the end of this week.

101dals 07-31-2009 03:31 PM

me too!

Dave, I would like to purchase a couple. I'll send you a PM with my info.

Mike

BWROOFCHEX 07-31-2009 05:53 PM

I love the cupholder Dave made, I use the factory holders for phones etc. now. It fits perfect !
