'04 MCS Driver's Sunvisor Mod

I searched for posts on this topic but to no avail. I have an '04 MCS which lacks the flip down driver's side sunvisor that was added in the later models. Has anybody added the '05 sunvisor to an '04. I don't know that there are any mounting points for secure install. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I recall, but can't find, a thread where someone that had the OMG bar/handle on the drivers side was able to get all the 05 side visor parts and it was a easy exchange of parts.

I use a long piece of folded and taped manila paper and stuff it in the gap between the window and the door seal. It stays put, I can move it anywhere along the window, and it was less than 25¢ to make.

Search for an Anthracite headliner swap. I think it was done by Snyper and he had an older model without it and put it on.

Edit- Found it, and I think he chenged his name.
Here you go.

yep, that was me...and yeah i did a sn change since then. its possible to do. but kind of a pain and a little pricey. You have to buy 2 visor brackets which gives something for the screws to attach to.
they look like this

I changed my entire interior to anthracite, so my new headliner came with the holes pre cut for the visor...so I had no choice but to make the visor work. If you will be using your current headliner, you'll need to cut 2 square holes in it for the mounting points. Be sure to disconnect your battery as you will come face to face with the side curtain bags. The pre cut holes in 05+ model headliners look like this....

you dont have to remove the entire headliner to gain access. however, you will need to remove both front sunvisors and their mounting clips, rearview mirror, sunroof surrounds, a and b pillar trim, and dome light. The C pillar can stay on, which is good because its hardest to remove without breaking.

if you decide to tackle this project and have more questions, let me know.

as posted in the links by the previous posters..here is the finished product...

and my passenger/gf wanted a spring-loaded grab bar like the 08+ MINIs have...
same involvement just on opposite side. you could actually install grab bars or lateral visors on either side you want, or both sides for that matter...

I also want to mention that I havent used the lateral visor one time yet, lol. but I do have 5% tint and always surrounded by mountains, so the sun isnt much of an issue for me. Goodluck.

Thank you all for the input. I figured it wouldn't be a simple fix. Don't know that I will want worry about cutting holes in the headliner and such. Probably cheaper to just buy a new pair of sunglasses, though the manilla envelope sounds quite promising.

when I installed the sun visor with the headliner swap, I didn't screw the brackets into the metal since it doesn't really take any loads on it and it has held up really well. Made the install a lot easier than doing the passenger side handle.
