Lost one little snail...

--Where'd his turbocharger go? Someone should tell him it fell off and ran away from home.

Oh wait, this is a last year regular Cooper. Ugh! Poser-mobile. Someone should stick Lancer Ralliart on the side of that thing!

LINKED for your convenience...

It has a salvage title, so I assume the bonnet was wrecked and they replaced it with a salvaged Cooper S bonnet. I've seen other people do this, actually on other forums - it's a bit weird, but he makes it very clear that it's not a true "S".

This is a Cooper car with an 'S' bonnet cover. Also, an 'S' version in '06 would have a Supercharger not a turbo.

The new R56 has a scoop also which is non-functional. I supposed it makes it look better.

Looks a little "rough"... didn't even vac the mats before pics? Can't imagine what it looked like before they cleaned it up and oiled the seats.

Not all R56 scoops are non-functional. The early ones (the ones that melted) had no holes; mine has holes and was a late 07 build.

It might be cool to go the other way, putting MC body work on an S, but you'd need a front mount intercooler. It would be a great sleeper.

No offense, but just because the scoops have holes, doesn't make them functional. True, it might help in cooling, but that's not really an intended function. I have to tell my wife the same thing about her 7th gen Celica.

I know that they are standard Coopers, I just thought it weird that I found two with 'S' bonnets.

And it does seem like more of a hassle to make a scoop non functional than functional.

Yup, great "base" to start with. And no hacking away at metal or plastic.

[quote=???? I don't get it! Why would anyone do this! ????? quote]

Here I was expecting to see a 80's whale tail spoiler..................

I don't see an issue with someone putting an S hood on their car......no different than putting JCW wheels or parts on an S (non factory JCW car). It's part of the Mini experience.

to each their own

I find the wheel gap far more offensive than the fact that they have a hoodscoop on an MC.

You guys are making it sound like I was horribly offended about finding two MC's with MCS bonnets. I thought it was weird because I had never seen it before. Sure there is plenty of reason why someone would do it, but those two MC's just had stock engines. They weren't fitting a turbo kit under them.

It is weird!

haha

I have to ask...Does anyone know if the S scoop lines up with the air intake on a (1st-gen) non-S? If it did, then that might make it worthwhile...a little.

No it just misses it .

But people have made them functional.

It will be running to an intercooler when I have my turbo installed.

The intercooler will be mounted where the battery and intake are now.

Kind of a secret thing, no visible intercooler
