Tinted fender flare side markers available?

Coming from VW's, tinted side markers are easy to come by (for a reasonable price too). I was just wondering if there are any available for our cars? I'm not talking about the BIG side marker near the windshield... I'm talking about the yellow and red ones in the black fender flares. The ones I had for my 07 GTI were black smoked plastic with colored bulbs, so safety isn't comprimised at all.

thanks in advance for the help

To my knowledge no one makes what you're looking for yet, however, the easiest solution would be to remove and spray them yourself with some "Nite Shades" tint spray or get some pre-cut adhesive tint for the markers from one of the site sponsors.

I have the tinted film from Outmotoring on my mini and i love it! It looks great!

... Sorry no pics at the time, but could post some if you would like ...

Thanks so much for that link. I was thinking about using tinting film, but I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a replacement lens. I think I will order that and give it a try.

Thanks again

(for reference this is what I had hoped to find: http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...Side%20Markers )

If found these but I think they are for an R53. Not sure if they will fit an R56. I'm looking for something as well. Started looking when I got rid of my repeater yokes.

I have also heard of a product that VHT makes that you can spray on to tint the lenses. The Vinyl is reversible tho..

I have the charcoal tint from Lamin-X on my orange arch reflectors (they have a pre-cut kit). It was very easy to install and looks fine. Up close you can tell it's orange, but from far away it blends in pretty well.

You can order them from Lamin-x's website, here's the link...

Here is the link for their pre-cut tint kit for the arch reflectors:

its a flat surface... typically the only reason you have to heat and stretch is to apply a 2d sheet around a 3d object.

How can you remove these lenses to paint them? Thanks.

enron29 06-18-2008 03:02 PM

If anyone can please shed some light on removing these little lenses. I am planning on painting them tonight when I get home from work. Please, anybody?

enron29 06-21-2008 10:20 PM

still waiting. If there is a place that talks about this, please show me the way. I have searched and searched, but have not found anything. Please, can someone let me know how to remove these. Thanks.

Still no answers for you enron. Looking in the 1st gen forums I found this: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...demarker+bulbs

It may help you figure out how to get access to ours.

The people who did the lamin-x route, is it just Tint film? Couldn't I just buy a roll of limo tint for $20 or get some scraps from the local tint guy and apply it (obviously I would have to cut it to size...).

Yeah, I don't think I've seen any instructions on how to remove them. There is another alternative I forgot about - I think Minis in the UK don't have the arch reflectors. So, if you could get your hands on the plastic arches from a UK Mini, you could replace yours and have no reflectors at all.

Yup! You could do that if you like, shouldn't be difficult.

I just painted mine flat black. Not something I ever expect to get a ticket for. Even if I do a little paint thinner will take the paint off and I can get the ticket dropped.
