Black Web Spoke Rims 17's
 

I have 06 MCS that came with 17 inch Web Spoke Rims and i'm thinking of powdercoating them matte black. Does anyone have a picture of their Web Spokes powdercoated. I'm curious to see how they look.

Wow looks nice!!! That basically solves my problem. I'm going to have it done but i'm going to change it up and have them done all black. I was going to purchase a set of rims but I like the web spokes to much to give them up. Did you do these yourself or at a shop? They look really nice!!

Going to do something similar. Any more issues with the Ti bolts backing out?

Yeah I heard it was pretty easy, but alot of people recommended powdercoating so it will last longer. How long have you had your rims painted and did you run into any issues with the paint?

i've been thinking about doing this for a while.. but I'm thinking about dark silver...

ah, you remember my situation :razz: nope, last i checked with a torque wrench and they are all still in place nice and snug. mustve been a bad batch of loctite i had /shrug

it's fairly simple, just time consuming. 56 bolts total, cleaning, sanding, more cleaning, paint, more paint, clear, more clear, reassemble.
daily driving these wheels and i've had the paint on since the weekend before amviv with no scratches/nicking/pitting. :nod:

looks good. I just picked up crown spoke 17's I'm going to powder coat white gloss with a flake. :thumbsup:

This is to 6th Gear - I am thinking of doing the same to my wheels, I have the same wheels - BUT how do you get the screws out, looks like they take a special tool, what tool, where do you get it or what did you use??? And are the rims sealed to the face of the wheel, did you have to beat it off? Looks great by the way!!

also does anyone know the torque pressure needed to screw the screws back in when putting the black web spoke wheel back together, if not torqued right its not safe!!

are they a true multipiece wheel? I want to paint the ones on our 08 MCS too, but have been wondering about doing them all black, or black with the polished lip and chrome bolts and what the best procedure would be to do the latter.

Yes they are a true two pice wheel. However I am giving up, I dont know where to find the tool/bit to take out the screws or the torque lbs needed to put them back together right, no one seems to know, I emailed Ronal but no answer. Poweder coating the face would be easy and not expencive but I do not want to strip out the heads or drive on the wheels if there not set right.

in another thread I read it was an 8mm 12 point hex tool that is needed(ive been doing my research since my last post)

The tool is a triple square drive, got mine at Autozone. You will need blue loctite for reassembly. Be carful, these bolts are titanium and you can not
buy them if you break one. Also be aware of powdercoat build up, making
the center piece tight. DO NOT try to suck down center with the bolts if fittment is not right. Trust me..:razz: If I remeber right, torque is only 18-20
foot lbs. for these guys.

Did you break one? Being Titanium I would think they are not easy to break?? After powder coating should we file off any powder build up if they dont fit tight at the center? Also are they sealed in any way?

Also we need to know for "sure" what the torque pressure is for the titanium screw/bolts, I have been told all the way from 18 to 24 lbs per (it must be per inch) of pressure, too tight and you can break the head, (not good!) not tight enough its not safe. Can anyone help with this? thanks.
