You can take them off and resintall them with 3m 2 side tape or you can cut the stripe to leave a gap around them like the factory stripes have. Its not hard either way

i think even the dealer stripes come with a paper protective cover
(if i remember correctly) and those are a breeze to install.
YES! The factory stripes have a paper transfertape and are easy to install like ours but cost a lot more $$$

Wax?

Since no one has asked, and it appears in your instructions, how do you recommend removing the wax from the car?

I guess it is not really necessary since everyone likely waxes their MINI 2-3 times per week like I do (j/k).

Seriously, there is usually wax on the car.

Good question.

I installed one set of stripes by just doing a Dawn wash on the boot. Didn't strip the wax off well enough. When I went to peel the protective paper cover off the stripes, the vinyl pulled up in spots... had to order another set and start all over.

Use some Goof Off or Goo Gone in the area you're going to install the stripes. Then after the stripes have been installed for a few weeks, don't forget to put some wax back on that area.

You can use Rubbing alcohol or wax and grease remover. Either one works just fine and gets the wax off 100%

+1 on rubbing alcohol - I always swab the area with the 90% stuff on a microfiber rag before application, and I've not yet had any lifting issues, even with Aesthetic Creation's more aggressive film-type backing.

Just be sure you use the ones that smell like oranges, NOT NOT NOT the ones that smell like chemicals (strong solvent smell). I own restaurants, and recently used one of the goo removers that smells of solvents. When I went to remove the sticker on my new 22 quart lexan container, the plastic of the container starting turning to goo itself and dissolving.

I fear that it would have a negative effect on your vehicle's paint if you used that brand. (No, I don't have a bottle right now to clarify which one - just smell it before purchasing it).

Edit - Actually, I think the one that Home Depot sells (now) is the solvent kind....

Ok, good to know. I would not have experimented with my paint though...

It sure did a number on my $30 plastic container.
