Hella all the way. Read http://www.danielsternlighting.com about PIAA. Hella is a well respected company doing lighting for many years. PIAA is more expensive and even a racing shop I went to told me to stay away from PIAA bulbs. Of course, I ignored him and still bought some for another car but for the MINI, I went Hella and phillips visionplus for the halogen high beams.

You can probably get 500s for a third the price of PIAAs.

The equivalent PIAA light, in terms of size and shape, is the 520, It's about 2X the price of the Hella 500, but it's housing is metal versus plastic. I've owned both, and I think the PIAA is a much better lamp. And you can get the PIAA in chrome. Oh, and I have a set for sale here.
