Auxilary Driving Lights Installion Instructions

2 Attachment(s)
Here are the workshop instructions for installing the Auxilary Driving lights for cars with and with out LED Headlamps.
Please be aware that there is a mistake in the LED Light instructions lead A9 Does not connect to pin 1 as stated it connects to pin 20 as shown in the wiring diagram.
Also if you are from Canada A9 and A10 connect to different leads than shown in the US install instructions
A9 connects to Pin 4 of plug A258*4B
A10 connects to Pin 41 of plug A258*2B
I am in Canada and I have tested these and they work.

Also you will have to pull the front bumper to install these. I have a posting on how to do this.

Please don't pay to have these installed. It is extremely satisfying to do this yourself! I have photos of most of my install (including how to penetrate the firewall and pulling the trim). If required I will post these.

Good luck!

Maybe I should link this to my dealer as my car is in the shop for 3 days now getting these installed and they cannot get them to work. The only reason it there is because they are free for me.

Thanks for posting!

My dealer quoted 6 hours of labor for this job! Total estimate including OEM driving lights was $1300! I went aftermarket…

Thanks for posting!

I decided to go aftermarket as well due to the same cost. Now I just have to find F56 brackets.

www.vipcustomparts.com is where I ordered mine.

When will the LED rally-lights shown in Paris be available for order, do you know that ECSTuning?

MikewithaMini 11-06-2014 10:45 AM

Pick up some Posi-tap (Posi-Products) wire connector\splicers in lieu of what is supplied in the kit. You'll be glad you did for the space these sometimes have to fit into. It makes for a more secure connection (in my opinion) and a cleaner install.

Nothing yet ,maybe down the road, they do look pretty cool. We did have to wait for the LED DRL s for a while here in the US.

Where exactly does that button/switch go? Someone said in another thread that his is on the side of the steering column?

ECSTuning 11-06-2014 11:05 AM

Check out the second PDF at the top.

The Switch goes on the right side of the steering column,. Kind of different for MINI.

Thanks

Looks like the F56 , also works for the kits ( R56- R61 MINI ) led rally lights are out ! Also looks like a direct swap from the normal halogen units. So if you get these or have the regular halogen versions, looks like a direct swap. Just need that parts linked above.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Pic from the R56 set up. But #1 is shared between kits on the R56-R61 -F56 ( #2 and #3 are for the R56-R59 MINI ONLY ) The F56 just needs the F56 brackets linked up above.

Have not seen them light yet , but they look like they similar the DRL LED set ?

Rajapruk 11-10-2014 11:37 AM

Nice!
But I do not like the extra switch. Would like them to operate togheter witht the normal headlight. Is that possible?

ECSTuning 11-10-2014 11:53 AM

Welcome.

I am sure you could wire it that way. Check out the toggle wire , its a four post feed switch. That's I info I have. :)

I'm confused, does the kit only retrofit already existing rally lights?

What is the out of pocket cost (for parts only) if you don't have any rally lights installed?

From what I've seen online using oem parts, including lights, switch and a bracket for bumper will cost around $430

Yes, you can swap out to the new LED fixture part linked above , if you already have the halogens installed.

All the parts are linked above. If you don't have them also.

Moflash1 11-26-2014 10:09 AM

I currently have halogen driving lights installed on my F56 with led headlamps.
What would be required to convert to the new led driving lights??

GregoryK 11-26-2014 10:31 AM

I have the Halogen headlamps but am running Pia bulbs. I had the same lights on my R56. I personally would not waste money upgrading. I have the LED headlamps and honestly found the Xenon headlamps on my F56 to be better at night on a dark mountain road. The driving lights really don't add much to the lighting and are really a retro-cool thing. Save your money.

subguy658 12-25-2014 09:04 AM

Hi all - just got the chrome kit for Christmas from my kids. I have seen the post about the bumper removal, but none for how to get the interior pieces off. Anyone have any information on that?

ECSTuning 12-29-2014 10:58 AM

The second PDF "Retrfoti_DrivingLamps_F56_01.pdf" linked all the way at the top shows the install on the interior and the switch that goes on the steering column panel.

subguy658 12-29-2014 01:21 PM

Looking for panel removal

Hi and thanks. I have the pdfs for the wiring and all. What i dont have are the ones that tell how to get the knee bolsters and glove box off without damaging anything :)

ECSTuning 12-30-2014 11:33 AM

I don't have the PDF , but I did link some parts digrams to help :

#3 is the driver side knee bolster. #1 and #2 are those steering column covers.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/e/i/534.png

#1 is the glove box

Thanks and good luck.
