How do you remove dash vent?

Does anyone know how to remove the vent in the center of the dash just above the speedometer?

Picture for reference(not my car):

Any help?

On my car (03) you open each door and pop off the little plastic cover on the end of each side of the dashboard, and then take off four screws (two per side) and the whole top dash pad comes out. the vent is attached to that

I have a 04 MCS and I have taken my dash off many of times, it is exactly as Nodoze says,

I appreciate the reassurance.

I've got an '06 and have never done that but I'll be in there this weekend with detail brushes and etc. My how to question is getting behind the speedo glass to clean. I'm seeing a hint of dust that drives me nuts after getting everything else detailed.

Do you have to remove the entire center console/dashboard to get at the headliner by the windshield? I took the dash pad off and as far as I could see that looks to be the case. I have this horrible rattle in there when it's cold that will eventually go away when the car heats up a little. I really don't want to have to take the entire console out out :(

I am only touching the area very lightly, not pushing down hard at all. I can place my phone or wallet on top and it won't make that noise. Alternatively I can push on the dash bad a little and it will stop, or press the gas and it will stop. It won't go away forever though

I found by lining the area where the vents meet the dash pad with fabric medical tape, (I used 3M Medicore tape) as well as the edge where the dash pad meets the front dash header (toward the windshield) it solved my creaking and rattling issues.
