Before the accident I had retrofitted TL projectors and loved them. Now I find myself the owner of one of my favorites cars, but I'm missing the TL projectors.

Everything about the kit survived the crash minus the shroud and Philips bulbs. I gotta say those projectors are built solid, one projector was knocked out as the headlights was completely smashed, only damage was a nick in the center of the lens.

So the question for you sir is... I know it would be difficult but, would you think it is at all possible to fit TL projectors into my 2002 mini cooper headlights. Also how was spacing like in the back of the housing, did you have to cut much?
TL would be pretty tight, Id say no. The TL was what I put in. I had some TLs readily available to test because thats what I put in my other car. Sorry to burst your bubble. Perhaps if you relocate the TLs to the bottom high beam location that might work. Good luck, let me know how it works out.

I'm in the process of trying to obtain some headlights to attempt the retro fit, if the TL doesn't fit I'll look into swapping them out for some TSX or something similar.

My question for you today is if I read correctly you gutted a newer style headlight and was able to put them into your 2002 housing. Was this difficult?

Is there a "how to" on this? I need a pass. side xenon w/washer for my 03s but would rather joey mod a new set of halogens and use the xenon ballast to convert it.

Anyone know of some interesting headlights to do this on? Any with LED's installed in them?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Yes, I gutted some 02 xenons and used the wiring/ballasts/ignitor for use in the 05 xenon housing. This got past compatibility issues. You can just plug in an 05 xenon into any car and have it work. You need some dealer cpu flash.

It wasn't too hard, if you're not squeamish.

I guess you could always add some fog lights that could help extend the light pattern. Maybe another project?

Hi, burley. Mind if I pick your brain a little? :3

Would the projectors and housing in '05-'06 HID headlamp assemblies fit inside '05-'06 NON-HID headlamp assemblies?

I have an '05 without the HID option and was thinking about swapping the projector + projector housing into my headlamps (which don't have the washers).

I never liked the headlamp washers or the irregular shape of the HID trim rings.

Thanks in advance

was able to retrofit the s2k to my headlights. unfortunately, i can't use my existing hid (except for the bulb) as the socket/igniter wouldn't fit the s2k housing. also, it was a tight fit in the headlight. (we just finished one only for 9 hours) hahaha...

Yes, they should fit. However.. The amount of trouble involved just to keep the same OE lighting and ditch the washers isn't worth it IMO. If you're going to tear into a set of lights, might as well stick a couple of TSX in there.

Thats what I would have said 6 years ago.. When I bought my 06 R53 the last thing I wanted to do was screw with the OE xenons. I would just pick up a set of OE facelift xenons and be done with it I think there's some reprogramming that has to be done on 05/06 Coopers though. Pre-facelift should be plug and play.

**EDIT. Just looked at the date of that post, lol. Sorry, I don't frequent this site all that often anymore.

Correct me if Im wrong, but are you only using the front 1/2 of the S2000 projectors? You need the reflector side of the S2000 otherwise there's no point. The focal points won't match and it'll look like crap.

Heh, it's cool. I appreciate the support all the same.

I went ahead and did the retrofit. The OE projectors fit in the OE halogen housings. I've been meaning to make an tutorial page on it, but I've only drafted about half of it. It was easier than it looked, but I'm still not happy with the output and cutoff of the stock projectors.

Those TSX-Rs looked awesome on your car!
