DIY Thermostat

It's really easy to change the 180 thermostat. I can be there for the next DIY to go over the procedure.

I'm thinking of a group buy of:
Strut tower reienforcement plate-SRP to prevent mushroom tower.
Strut tower brace
Spark plugs-1 colder range- in stock with discount
Pulleys
Alta CAI- in stock with discount
Lowering spring- in stock with discount
Oil catch can
Anything else

I need a minumium of 5 purchase per item to get a better price

This group buy is a good idea - thanks for offering it. I hope our Group Buy Guy (Casey) reads this thread.

The next HMMC DIY is going to be at Barry's place and no liquids pouring out are allowed in Hawaii Kai garages so we won't be able to do the thermostat swap at that DIY. Thanks for offering your expertise on this subject though.

Andrew, did you have a stock pulley puller?

the hard thing, from my research with performance group buys is most members dont care about that stuff. they want interior goodies and such. if there is ten or so who want the same product we can make it happen. i might be a little negative here but im not sure we can find so many to make that happen on the same product. from my experience most vendors want at least ten, usually a dozen just to start. maybe someone can cut us a brake. the hard part is the fact that we are not apart of the continental united states. shipping just kills the deal sometimes.
casey.
treasurer.

I would think the m7 SRP (strut tower reinforcement plate) would be something anyone who drives on our fine Hawaiian roads would be interested in - I for one have mushroomed (and many others have too). Plus eastsidemini is saying a minimum of only five.

I also think springs are something a lot of folks are interested in (I just sold two of my used sets), especially because they are heavy to ship.

Next DIY is 3/26 at my place. I'm now thinking of doing the 180 thermostat (if andrew has one in stock for me) so coolant fluid will be running freely on 3/26 in Hawaii Kai.

Fluids in garage in Hawaii Kai is OK now?

You sure Kate is cool with that?

OK, so next HMMC DIY is at Barry's place, Hawaii Kai, on Sunday, March 26th. What time?

You're too easy Mr. Grumpy.

Are we doing the thermostat before or at the DIY?

Diy

D
You took my last thermostat. I need to call M7 to see if they have in stock. I really think the SRP is such a great preventive solution. The 5 minumium order discount is coming from me (ESMHawaii) and not from any of my vendors, they do require at least 10-12 for me to get a price break But I'm trying to offer a better deal for you guys.

Well lucky me! Thanks again Andrew!

I agree that the SRP is almost a must-do (especially for new MINIs) in Hawaii. Thanks for offering the "special" group buy deal man!

stock pulley puller

I can get one from one of my customer here. Just let me know. It is a good time to flush coolant and thermostat at the same time.

A,

Looks like there are two people (kbseto & feedback) interested in the SRP. Can you have this in by the DIY date? Get in touch with them if they don't contact you.

Group buy

M7 SRP:
1. Kyle
2. Feedback
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

M7 180 degree Thermostat:
1. Barry
2.
3.
4.
5.

Come on all you Mini owners These items will work on MC and MCS and to prevent the famous mushrooming of the strut tower which many have no matter where you live, and the 180 degree thermostat will lower engine temperture and allow the engine to run cooler

ESMHawaii

mini DIY today

Today we had a mini MINI DIY at my place.

We installed the NAM vendor sold o2 Sensor "tricker" on cwlouis' car for his Megan header. Louis had fun soldering the connections. We also got rid of a rattle that he heard. We dremeled Louis' CF intake to make it fit better too.

We also uploaded eastsidemini's MTH Tuner file. Took a while to "catch" but it finally took and all went well.

Louis took some pictures so maybe he'll share and I'll post here.

Andrew and Louis,

I forgot to also say the following :
- It definitely was a good fun today!
- Louis, thanks for the large die cast MINI
- Andrew, thanks for lunch
- Louis, you are definitely becoming a DIY guy! I saw you not only use the wrenches but also the Dremel and soldering iron today! And no mistakes too!

Aloha,
Dirk

Hey buddy, you work you lose! No wait, that doesn't make sense - why weren't these three guys working? Keith - although it was cloudy, it didn't rain nor sprinkle so you could've made it out too.

Seriously though.....like I've always said, let me know if you want to DIY something special.

I wish I was in Hawaii to come to this DIY! But I'm stuck in Texas until the middle of April, without any sort of transportation. Grrr... It's been 2 weeks without the MINI and 5 left to go...

Aloha folks-

I'll be able to drop in on some DIYs once the weather gets better and I don't get sucked into the office during every rain storm. I hope none of our MINI brothers and sisters got flooded out yesterday.

Aloha!
