[Hawaii] BMWCCA, of Hawaii, news
It's official......our the_beastmaster (Bryan) is once again President for the local chapter of the BMW CCA.
Congrats and thanks for stepping up. Seems like CCH was starting to slow down so hopefully under B's leadership it'll pick up again.
I let my membership expire but I'll definitely be signing up again to show my support for B.

Thanks, D! Don't forget that MINIs are welcome at CCH events.
We do stuff quarterly, so I'm planning a nice Island drive probably in March and we're most likely going to do Spring Fling on Maui since there is no word on the fate of our track.
Also, CCH will be planning more social events such as dinners and perhaps evening outings such as a jazz night at The Halekulani. We will also be doing more charitable events such as food drives and the like.

Haven't figured it out, but stuff that would be similar on both makes such as brake bleed, oil change, maybe a brake job and some other stuff. Maybe even some suspension tweaking or something. When Erik (Helix13) was down here, he used Gerards shop and I helped him out with the installs for brakes, exhaust, sway bars, suspension, pulley and intake.

Great news and congrats on being BMWCCA president. Certainly DIY session at Motorwerks is a welcome event.
Good idea about focusing on things common to both MINI and BMW-
Many are ongoing maintenance concerns especially with tracking our cars.
Other basics-
Air intake install
Rear swaybar install
Lowering springs install
Short shift kit install
Pulley belt replacement
Brake pad replacement
The Super Ferry won't be ready for Spring Fling 06.
But the HRP track might still be available- get in contact with HRP to secure dates. (fingers crossed).

[Edit] : Just talked to the_beastmaster and he even suggested some great "basic" things for newb MINI/BMW owners, like going over "what kind of tools a DIYer should have in their garage", "how to jump start a MINI/BMW", and subjects like this. Great idea!

[Edit2] : B, how about going over things like "don't waste your money on..(part)...", "what to look for in..(part)...", "what to look for in tools", etc.?

i like that idea...
that would be some useful info that we all can learn from. (flushing/changing radiator fluid, checking/changing tranny fluid). btw, when are we suppose to change our fluids for the tranny and radiator?

- been here over two years and still can't find anything.
Maui Winery drive
--HMMC MUST have a Maui Winery drive one day! The road up to the Winery and Ranch is soooo winding and SMOOOOOTH!!! Not to mention the scenery is breathtaking as it goes up the mountain coast. So while the drivers are loving each turn, corner and dropping corkscrew (very Laguna Seca) the passengers will enjoy the scenery and smoothness of the road too. Then at the end of the drive there's the Winery with free samplers and the Ranch too. Lots of stuff to see, eat, drink and buy. Don't worry they only give you 3 samples of wine at a time so we'll all make it back down.
I went up to Maui last fall with a co-worker and we took a Dodge Magnum up there and it was FUN! We were both thinking the same thing. "I wish I had my MINI." Of course he was thinking he wish he had his eclipse at the time. But now that he has an STI I think he'd love it even more. The Rapid Transit guys (formerly DSM) would probably join us too if we went up there.
Let's support the Ferry!
