[Hawaii] Sunday's Events/Gatherings

So it seems there are two motoring events this Sunday (HMMC's MINI at Moana and BMWCCH's Endless Summer Island Tour) about the same time. Who's going to which one? I'm hoping to get "free" this Sunday but will probably be with my daughter. Since she sometimes gets car sick :eek2: , I won't be able to go on the cruise; therefore, if I am free I will be going to the HMMC thing.

The CCH drive is starting from BMW of Honolulu, so I guess since we are in the area, it's a possibility that the group may cruise through Ala Moana to check things out.

Choices Choices, on a nice late summer sunday.
MINI at Moana runs from 9am to 12 noon. For best parking, come early.
Endless Summer Tour meets at 9am and leaves at 10am for a nice drive.

I'll be at MINI at Moana with my family until noon (we should have games for the kids and adults alike) then I think my MCS will want some exercise. I'll pack my cell phone and family radio and hope for a link up.

I'm thinking of stopping by the MINI at Moana meet if I can bring myself to drive my ford ranger to a MINI meet

keikilee Sep 16, 2004 01:22 AM

Regalic...you have to be there! I know Randy talked to you about it already!!! C'mon! Just park your ford around the corner :sly: no one has to know :sly: ...

Dakinemini....i hope you and your daughter will be able to come along. I'm pretty sure my son will be there...and perhaps a friend or a cousin....so there will be kids around for her to play with.

for some reason i thought that the two events were on different weekends. obviously, i'm gonna hafta choose, and i choose...wherever's gonna have the better food. and dessert.

so, i'm thinking the picnic at the moana will be the place for me. plus i get to surf at the park with prime parking on a sunday. that's a hard combo to pass up.

kbseto,
Will you be surfing on the ewa side of the park or the magic island side?
Will you be close enough so we can SEE you surf??? I'll try to save you a space (reserved!) with a bunch of orange cones.

What a treat. I think since the beach is so close my kids will probably go swimming.

Well if I go I'll have to make sure that I don't stay out until 5am like last weekend :eek2:

If you stay out really late saturday night you can park your Ford in our area and sleep there till we arrive early in the morning:eek2:

Or you can come by and we'll get a mat and some towels and you can take a nap under one of our tents.

Personally I have a work related party to attend saturday night already so I can't stay out too late myself.

Hopefully i could go in late sunday and check u guys out. taking the mini in on saturday for a checkup at mini hawaii, or should i say a lot of checkup. better to whack everything at once while over there. hopefully it is a one day thing. is it true that mini hawaii charges $50 dollars to get some features set on the keys(like follow me home and remote windows)

k-den,

mamini,
Aloha and welcome to NAM. Good to hear from you. If you can drop by you can come talk story and see our MINIs. Maybe we can squeeze together and making some parking space for you.

Charges for dealer programming can occur so talk to your service advisor or maybe also check with your sales person because usually you can get what you want at the time of delivery done free.

Swimming?

Hey, guys, haven't been to AM park since the 60s. Are there places to change/restrooms nearby? I'd like to go swimming too. Sadie says she'll take a pass--she doesn't want a flooded engine.

MINI at the Moana

Yes, we will be sharing restrooms with the McCoy Pavilion and tennis folks. But also, just a few feet away is the beach bathrooms and changing area.

Just an FYI - Here's a peak of some of the prizes we got for the picnic:

$100 Detail Kit (Shampoo/Cleaner/Wax/Polish + Microfiber Towels)
Center Console Organizer ($50 Value)
Glovebox Organizer ($30 Value)
MINI RC Cars
...and much lotsa other MINI stuff...
Stop by for some fun in the sun!

Hey, that was a pretty nice site to have a picnic.

Good turnout of about 40 MINIs and looking forward to the next event.

A few wet passing showers could not dampen our spirits. :eek2:
Kbseto was already damp from surfing but he said it was kinda crowded.
What do you expect with good weather?

Maybe next time we can head out on a drive at about 1130am.

After the picnic I caught up to the BMWs at Kuuloa park by 1pm. They were taking a lunch break and didn't up back on the road until about 150pm. We made stops at Laie point and BYU McDonalds- pretty neat "A-Frame" building. They started with about 20 BMWs and by the time we got to Kahuku there were about 11. Too bad there were so many slow buses and lots of police clogging up the roads. :eek2: :sly:
