Event 1 of the 2014-2015 season is this Sunday.

Sadly there does not seem to be any MINIs entered but there is always the chance there could be a walk up driver.

If there is no MINI then it would be almost the first time in 10 years of events that there are no MINIs.:mad::cry:

That's pretty sad for a car that is very capable and ought to be driven.

The Miata on the other hand has a very strong following and showing and holds it's own to everything thrown at it, old or new.

Perhaps if there are no MINIs this year I will bring out my Cooper S from retirement and finish off the season in Street Modified FWD PAX.

minihune 08-08-2014 05:38 PM

Next event is Aug 17th so sign up is open from tomorrow until next wednesday at 6pm

minihune 08-20-2014 12:45 PM

Next event is Sept 28.

For the full schedule see-
http://www.sccahawaii.org/docs/solo/...t_Schedule.pdf

We have a new class for novice drivers and allow instruction during the event for those that want, ask or need it (to get faster or just not get lost).

It's called Rookie class and you compete vs other similarly experienced drivers with a handicap applied to your raw time based on the class your car qualifies for.

So for example if you have a stock base MINI on street tires you would be in H Street Class which is the most basic and has the best handicap (highest multiplier value), while a JCW Cooper S would be in D Street which has a less favorable handicap. Therefore the JCW driver will have to drive much faster to make up for his handicap in order to do well.

You don't need race tires to drive as we have two sets of classes for otherwise stock cars, one for street tires such as OEM or non runflats and one class for the same cars on Race R compound semi slick tires. Naturally the street tire classes have the best handicap but at least you don't have to change wheels at the events, just bring your MINI as is and drive against cars that also have street tires.

minihune 09-15-2014 02:48 PM

Next autocross event is on Sept 28.

Online pre-reg is here for $5 savings from walk up reg fees-
http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/...7#.VBdd9CiJLP0

You can sign up beginning Sept 20 at 9am

You don't need anything but a stock MINI, any model. We have classes for stock cars on street tires and we have a rookie class with instructors available at each event.

Come and try it, learn car control in your MINI.

minihune 09-22-2014 03:09 PM

Otherwise you can walk up to register the morning of the event at 730am is best.

Schedule for SCCA autocross events for 2015-2016 season
http://www.sccahawaii.org/docs/solo/...t_Schedule.pdf

First event is Test and tune- non competition practice day July 26, this is a great event for new drivers, more time driving nearly the whole day with 2 work sessions (4 driving sessions). Instructors available. Snell rated helmet M2000 or later required, and closed shoes. Pre-reg is on motorsportsreg.com

minihune 07-07-2015 01:34 PM

The start of the new season is upon us and the first event is happening on July 26 sunday which is a preparation day- Test and Tune.

Anyone can sign up and we have a course laid out in cones at Aloha Stadium lower parking lot and you drive with instructors available for most of the day which is great compared to our normal events when you drive only in one heat- 4 runs.

At test and tune we are sorting out the various changes we can make to our cars or our driving style to see how it feels or if it can produce different results good or bad. Expect to drive in two heats (each with 5 runs) and work one heat in the morning and the same in the afternoon. So an estimated total of 20 runs is possible.

Cost is a little more than our regular events and total number of drivers is less to allow for more runs per driver so don't delay in signing up on motorsportreg.com online. I think the event will sell out online so likely no walk up registration.

You do not need a race prepped car to drive, you can bring a rental car if you like. No high center of gravity tipsy cars like lifted trucks and minivans. Any sedan and any two seater even if not street legal such as a kit car or the Cobra in your garage.

Closed shoes and Snell rated M2005 or later helmet required which you can borrow from a friend or use one of our loaner helmets (first come first served, just leave an ID).

Hope to see you there.

minihune 08-06-2015 12:03 PM

Results are in for the first event of the new season.

8/2/15
115 drivers

Rookie Class

Mark J. in F56 D Street, 2nd of 25 drivers, 76th on raw time, 57th on Pax time.

Pax time is your raw time multiplied by a Pax index for your car class. This gives you a time that can be compared to other (Rookie) drivers in their cars (with different Pax index values depending on how modified their cars are).

So with a stock or Street class car you don't have to drive very fast to finish well.

For example at Event 1, first place in Rookie class was an A Street Prepared Evo with a raw time of 59.826 but after Pax for ASP was applied the Pax time was only 0.746 seconds faster than Mark's Pax time.

So for any new drivers that want instruction, Rookie class is open to those who have no or little experience driving autocross. Track or drag racing experience does not count, you can be a rookie.

Only after the season ends and you win a Points class trophy or Championship Runoff trophy do you get bumped out of Rookie class. A few very strong drivers with consistently high finishes will also be bumped out with a new season.

Instructors are available to all Rookie drivers to ride along while the new drivers learn the ropes and get oriented.
