(edit) - changed the date!
Hi folks - just wanted to let y'all know that I was planning on throwin' a few ideas at 'ya during the September 14th MINI / Movie meet down there at MINI of Hawaii.
One of the things I was hoping to do was at least get some nominations for some of the other club positions, namely a Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Minister of Propaganda.... whoops... well, hey - we might just have one, 'ya never know! The time has come to pool our collective abilities and get this club on the road. There are a whole buncha good MINI people out here, so finding folks to help out shouldn't be a problem at all.
I look forward to seein' all of you (that can make it!) on the 10th. If you can't be there, and you'd like to nominate someone for the positions I listed above (or even some positions that weren't listed) please don't hesitate to e-mail me at latka@hawaii.rr.com. We'll either vote later in September, or maybe hold it off until October... might try to get the "core" group of people together as soon as possible though so we can at least get a little direction in things.
I don't know which way things are going to go, but it sure will be fun  Sheesh... we've got our very first Christmas / Kwanzaa / Chaunukah / (Insert your favorite Winter Holiday here) Party!
As always, thanks for supporting our li'l club!

It would be nice to have the club rolling strong by November. Around T-Giving the BIGGEST all-club event happens: The Toys 4 Tots Cruise.
Where: From Ala Moana through Waikiki to the Waikiki Shell. Police escort and shut the route off to all other traffic.
When: A Sunday in late November
Why: It's for underprivileged kids in the state. Bring at least one brand new toy. At the end of the cruise, the Marines collects and distributes all the toys.
When I used to "run" with the air-cooled VW Club, we would have a contingent anywhere from 40-60 strong.
Other car clubs included: the Corvettes, Porsches, Hot Rods, Mustangs, Camaros...etcetra, etcetera, etcetra. The entire parking lot and curbside parking at Ala Moana beach park is filled with the cruisers. It usually takes the entire morning since it's a parade of car clubs going single file.
(The motorcycle clubs have it on a different day.)
Would be nice if there was a MASS of MINIs even greater than at the Italian Job Premiere.

Well we have some time since Sept is right around the corner. Just have to get organized and out there.
I think Toys 4 Tots Cruise would be great and doable.
I'll be at the Sept 14 meeting and for all of those that wanted a club meeting this is it- your chance to be heard and for your great ideas to be known.
We need to decide on a good time for the meeting. It was suggested that we have the meeting first followed by other activities such as the movie or RC contest, etc.
So business followed by pleasure. Some of us are all business and might need to go after the meeting.
That's cool.
Let us know your suggestions/comments please.

What time does the Movie bit usually kick off? Maybe either start the business portion at that time - or maybe a tad bit earlier to make sure we can get everything done and still allow folks the opportunity to do other stuff with their day?
I'm a morning person, so I don't mind if it's early - then again, it is a weekend and I know lots of people aren't too crazy about getting up early if they don't have to!

It sounds really interesting, but I won't be making it, since I have my baby son's first luau that day. (He was born 9/11!) Can you guys possibly take some photos and post them on this forum, so that the people who can't make it, at least get a glimpse of how the event went?
Thank you all!

Gettin closer to Sunday. If you have something you'd like brought up at the meeting, please either post 'er here or e-mail me (latka@hawaii.rr.com) and we'll make sure to add it to the list of stuff to be discussed. Hopefully we can cover some good ground and get this bowl of jello firmed up a bit.

Hey folks,
Don't know how many of you will see this before the meeting, but it was only now that I found out that MCO was back up.
Today's meeting, as Minihune said, is at 11am. It'll probably be a short one as I'm kinda wiped out from battling what I guess is a stomach virus this whole weekend. Blech.
Hope to see ya all there.
