[Hawaii] HMMC & Arthritis Awareness

Hey everyone!
Here's one of two charity events coming up for the club. On May 7th, HMMC will be participating in the Arthritis Walk at Pearlridge.

It'll be a morning event...casual walk around Uptown. There will be food, entertainment and a raffle!

If anyone is interested in joining the HMMC team, please reply to this thread. More information will be posted soon!

Thanks!

keikilee 04-18-2005 01:39 AM

Ok everyone...if you are interested in joining our team, please visit: http://Aieaarthritiswalk.kintera.org/hmmc You are not required to make a donation, so do not feel obligated. Just do what you can (even if that's only to show up and walk).

We will probably be meeting up at about 8:00a. The event starts at 8:30a and runs for an hour. We'll be taking 4 casual strolls around the first floor of the Uptown section of Pearlridge.

JCW04 is going to try to get the MINIs reserved parking...so please watch this thread for more information.

If you guys have any questions, post them here, or email the club at info@hawaiiMINIclub.org

Thanks!

I am definitely interested!

Hey, JCW04, could you post some of your ideas that you sent earlier

Run not walk?

I know that is what two little girls will be doing in front of Kohu if he brings them that morning. And one will be in rubber boots  , the other in slippers. Hey, it's indoors.

OK. I'm in for an early morning jaunt. I need the exercise anyway.
Not sure what else I'll be doing that day but Pearlridge isn't too far away.

We need HMMC T-shirts so we can look like a team.

keikilee 04-20-2005 09:38 AM

I'll see if I can bring the whole family and a double jogger to fit in my MINI

If not....I'm still on for the HMMC Team.

keikilee 04-23-2005 02:59 AM

No entry fee, just come and join us if nothing else.

One mile isn't too much to ask for a good cause.

We need club T-shirts!

I'll wear MINI something or other

ok, folks...we're looking for more energetic Oahu MINI owners to come out and join us for this event! It should be lots of fun!

We'll be meeting at Pearlridge UpTown right outside of the food court area between 7:30a and 8:00a to sip coffee and talk story. The event starts at 8:30a and should be for an hour only. After that, we can have breakfast, hang out, or do something!

anyone interested in getting some t-shirts made? if so, tell me what color and what size shirt you want. I think we'll be going with a Hanes brand. It'll say Hawaii MINI Motoring Club on the front...MINIs Supporting Awareness on the back. Just plain and simple...I think that's all we can afford (time wise) for right now. I'm estimating the cost of the shirts to be approximately $15.

If you folks want shirts, please email us at info@hawaiiMINIclub.org by 4p on Tuesday (2 days from now!!!). No promises that we can make this happen...but we'll try our best!!!

Aloha folks!

Sorry to be AWOL for so long. Ran into some issues at home including a two house/family move, home demolition, four cats, two dogs, and two rabbits :eek2: !

Anyway I AM planning on doing the walk on Saturday, will probably bring my significant other too!

See you Saturday!

Aloha!

OK,

Looking forward to meeting about 730am this saturday. (same day as SuperLap series at HRP!:eek2: ). Oh well.

Hope it doesn't rain.

Hey, we walk indoors!
Let it rain!

Lets look for each other so we can park together!

Kohu'ulaMINI 05-06-2005 02:12 AM

One of the sponsors of this event suggested that all the MINIs park along the entrance of Pearl Ridge so everyone can see us on their way in

Uh, where's the entrance?

yah, good question! But really, we're only going to have about 5 MINIs, that's not too impressive. Does they realize we're not bringing a HUGE group?

um, let's all park on food court side. I guess that's the "diamond head" entrance of uptown on the ground floor. that's ONE of the entrances?

5 MINIs can look big if we huddle together and "puff up".

OK, lets meet on the uptown (Macy's side) near the entrance to the food court- see the big blue building on the map- the door is in the center in the bend of the building facing Diamond Head. 730am tomorrow. Yawn!

Thanks for the map :) See you in the AM!

kbseto 05-07-2005 01:50 AM

i just never understood the whole uptown and downtown thing at pearlridge.

too early for me...mainly cause i'll still probably be in the water at that time. and it'd take me like 1/2 hour to get over there. otherwise, i'd be the one to make it a six-pack of minis.

good exercising!

keikilee 05-07-2005 02:54 PM

Wow, that was so much fun! Thanks everyone for supporting today's event! It was great seeing 2 cabrios! :eek2:

We have 2 more shirts left...if anyone wants to buy them! PM and we can work out a deal. They are black with white lettering saying "Hawaii MINI Motoring Club" I'll post a pic at some point today.

THANKS!

minihune 05-07-2005 07:47 PM

Great to see everyone this morning.
It's a treat to go for a walking event in an "air conditioned" Mall!
Beats walking in the heat!

Hey, they had bagels, bananas, Starbuck's Coffee, water, and Cold Stone ice cream!

13 of us had breakfast at Anna Miller's. And on my side of the table three of us cleaned our plates, or more like "licked our plates". The waitress was duly impressed.

We planned even more things for this summer to do. We have ideas for an early morning hike (even made it closer to kbseto's side of the island) and maybe some lawn bowling with real pins and bowling balls. That ground better not be wet. :sly:

Many thanks to Keikilee for printing the shirts into the wee hours.
Will be using them for club events. Kohu- don't remove the McDonalds stickers, they make your shirt look unique.

kbseto 05-07-2005 10:29 PM

say what, you guys had free cold stone ice cream? and before that, had breakfast at anna miller's? yum...ok, let me know the next time you guys do this again, and i'll be there.

i'd do a hike or lawn bowling. of course, having cold stone ice cream would also help to convince me.

Nope. I had Cold stone ice cream first, right after the Starbucks coffee x 2.
Then we went for breakfast but got too full for desert. Maybe next time.

We will try to an activity first to "justify" our eating afterwards.
If we do the one hour diamond head hike then we can go and eat.
Just have to start early before the heat and crowds arrive.
I think the tunnel gate opens after 6am so if we can get going by 7am we'd be done early.
Be sure to contact Keiki to one of the last few remaining HMMC shirts.
