If I decide not to put a front license plate on my car (due to the esthetics) will cops really enforce the infraction? I got away with it in California for years. I got one ticket for $15 and I just paid it, never putting the plate on.

 

also, where do you buy the metal brackets that go under your rear bumper for safety inspection stickers? Thanks!

How about the front plate enforcement? Are there a lot of cars without? Are cops cool about those kinds of things or are there too many ricers that abuse the rules too often?

 

I had an officer cite me for it. Only because he couldn't get a bead on my speed with that laser thingy. Police aim at the front plate of on-coming vehicles because of the retro-reflecto paint. It returns the laser beam really well.

Anyway, he pulls me over and asks if I have the plate in the car, perhaps in the trunk. When I say I don't, he writes a bogus speeding ticket and includes the front plate infraction. I contested and got 'em both dismissed, but if I hadn't the front plate alone would have cost me $75!

So now I ride with it in the rear footwell with a handy alibi just in case. Its the best way to do it. Just watch out when you are town-bound on the Pali, coming out of the mountains. Especially at the very last leg past the last lookout before the H-1 interchange, they like to hide in that school parking lot on the right and catch you enjoying that last serving of well paved down-hill turns. Oh the Pali!
