Just came out this month. Not bad, nice pictures from nationals.
Alright, see you there. I'll get a jug of Starbucks again.

Hey thanks, I'd like to check the book out.

That jug is 12 cups of coffee!

How many milligrams of caffeine is that?

Enough to wake up a sleepy motorer maybe.

No chance, I am immune to java.

On friday I had two venti brewed coffees at Starbucks while waiting for my new alignment.

We had a nice gathering of about 9 cars - not bad for a last minute coffee meet.

AND look who showed-up!

All photos courtesy of kbseto.

Keep an eye out for our next little gathering.

CG4 - come on out!

Hard to believe we are having our fourth Coffee Gathering for 2007 already.

The first one was near the airport (Starbucks), the second one was in Kapolei (Home Depot Starbucks), and the third one was in Kaneohe (Starbucks). Latka and kbseto have been planning this fourth installment on the East Side and alternated to a Sunday this time (we will be switching between Saturdays and Sundays).

Date : Sunday, Aug. 26th

Time : 8:00am

Location : Hawaii Kai Starbucks in Costco Towne Center

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. If all goes well we'll have two classic Minis in attendance.

Will we get some nice weather? How was it today on the windward side?

We got flash floods near the airport midday. Like 2" in less than one hour then it cleared up some.

(sigh) stupid post got wiped out.

It's pretty muggy over here in Kaneohe / Kailua. I heard some thunder while I was out there washing the Mini, but it hasn't rained... yet. Looks like we'll get some heavy rain in parts (probably over the Ko'olaus and central o'ahu) until things start to cool off. If the weather doesn't change (which I don't think it's supposed to) tomorrow morning will be nice until it starts to heat up mid-day, and then we'll get the convective showers agian.

We're going to have a small caravan of Minis leaving from Kaneohe / Kailua area. If you'd like to join us, shoot me an e-mail (it's in the profile) and we'll add you to the little train.

Great turn out.

2 classic minis and 14 MINIs.

And one guest MINI... The Red Bull MINI with 2 Red Bull girls and...

Cold Red Bull!

We must live right. They were driving by and we were minding our own business in the Park and Ride at Hawaii Kai. We started at the Costco/ Starbucks but we were taking up a bit of space and the security guard was circling us.

I think the site was convenient and more people know about CG now that it's a regular happening.

Nice to see the classics!

Bring your MINI and join us next time.

Oh, yeah. And the weather was nice.

What a fantastic turnout! Thank you to everyone that showed up with their Mini / MINI. It was great to see the "Usual Suspects"...even better was to meet all the new folks I haven't talked to yet.

Definitely a special treat when the Red Bull MINI stopped by to check us out. Cold Red Bull woohoo! Hopefully we can trick the... err... convince them to come show up at a few MINI club events in the future. Jessica and (Lousie?) were totally cool!

After the coffee and talk story session a few of us went to the Kona Brewing Company for lunch. Good beer and some good grub!

Here are a bajillion pictures:

We'll announce the next event soon. The next "Coffee Gathering" will be at the airport Starbucks on Paiea St. An e-mail will go out with times and directions.

WOW! Great turnout folks! Andy and I were very happy to see everyone. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hi. Very cool to have the Red Bull MINI stop by too.

Here's my pics :
Gordon's Fireballed MC!

The cool kids! Rich and Andy's Classic Minis.

Everyone talking story at our meeting spot. Security came by but just looked and walked away.

Look who made her 10 minute entrance! Yes, it's Keikilee!

We moved to the carpool parking lot to do a better group shot.

While we were in the carpool lot, we heard honking and it was the Red Bull MINI pulling up.

Andy showed he was the biggest MIni fan , and the biggest sukebe boy.

A few of us went to grind at the Kona Brewing Company afterward.

Aloha Minihune,

Newbie to Minis and NAM- picked up a new MC earlier this month and hope to one day join in on the fun gatherings when we move back home from CA ( sigh!).

Dont mean to hijack the thread but your signature pic caught my eye... Is that Koa wood veneer inside your car? Very cool!

I was thinking, after we get all the MINIs strategically parked on the lot in an easy to see place.

Is anyone interested in driving up a few levels to shoot a photo from above over the side of the highway overpass?

Lets study the structures above to see where a good shot can be had and place the MINIs in the right vantage point.

There is more than one overpass up there. I think it would require one driver and one photographer with zoom lense.

I am up for photo-ops but not following what you are saying - do you mean the upper parking ramps around the airport? I think most require passes or are pay parking. Or did you mean pulling over on the freeway?

Two ideas.

If we want pictures from higher vantage point then-

Like you mentioned- there is a close building with rooftop parking. I think it is Alamo rental parking for the airport or something, we can just ask them if we can walk up and take a picture (maybe offer them a cup of starbucks coffee).

Or we can look up at the highway overpass and see if there is one that will offer a good view of the MINIs below at the right angle for a good picture then drive there on the highway and park on the shoulder long enough to snap a picture early in the morning. Just a wild idea.

In any event we would need to think about where to park to get the best top view for the picture.

Ah, I see - the camera person goes on the overpass/ramp/parking lot and takes the photo of those parked at CG5. OK, I finally get it now (sorry I didn't catch on).

[Edit : only one I know with a telephoto lens is Latka and he's not showing up for this one (due to ThunderBirds).]

I think they are flying over Waikiki (Ft.D area). Sounds like Latka may show up to CG5 now.

230pm Saturday. That leaves some time for CG5 at 8am.

Did anyone see them today? I was in Hilo and missed it all.

Imagine if you were parasailing off Waikiki when the F-16s are flying at 300 feet!

I've seen the Blue Angels over Waikiki a few years ago.

Spectacular!

Latka and I went down there today for the 9:00 one. It was their "low show" so nothing more than a bunch of low level passes. No loops, etc.

Blue Angels is next month. October 13th and 14th I believe.
