loving the feedback guys - watched the videos a few more times:
one thing off the bat though, not that this is an "excuse" of some kind - these are simply my fastest clean runs - i actually thought that was one of my worst runs in the mini, but either by luck or pushing hard or whatever, happened to be my fastest run. regardless -
definitely pinched a few corners with the mini - i think the biggest difference is i'm trying so hard not to lose any speed in the mini, which ends up sacrificing corners & scrubbing speed. with the evo, i know it's acceleration can get me out, so i am much more willing to slow down for corners. i also make everything in the evo about being able to get on the gas again, whereas in the mini i make everything about keeping as much speed as i can. i should try to do a liiittle more slow in fast out in the mini, but the acceleration is just so slow...

Smooth is fast in autocross, but there also needs to be a real sense of urgency with that smoothness. The really fast people attack a course like it owes them money, with a controlled, calculated aggression.
You have the urgency part and you are smooth with the Evo; just bring that over to the MINI.

so looking at pads & rotors, the rotors look pretty gross and the pads are getting to very low levels. was thinking of going with stoptech sports & centric cryo-treated blanks, unless anyone has any other suggestions. as long as it performs slightly better than stock, it's good with me - we don't need much stopping power here

haven't had a chance to replace them yet - started doing my MBA on the weekends (every Saturday in Chicago) so been very busy. Had my firist event of the year in the Mini on 4/30 though - entire course was soaked, raining all day. Mini tends to do well in this weather though, as everyone slows down/no one can put power down:

Getting an MBA is not an easy thing. I have a son-in-law who has started on his, so I tend to hear about it. Hope yours goes well.
As for the video, yes MINIs are great in the rain and your driving was some of the best I have seen from you. You can measure your distance from the cones in inches or fraction there of. You were smooth and consistent. Very nicely done...

thanks! full-time work and then studying for school is no easy task. on top of that, throw on a 9.5-10hr round trip to get to school and back every fri/sat... things tend to get stressful. hopefully after midterms this weekend i'll get on doing the mini's brake pads - I think I need to pick up those brake sensor clips or something that tend to break during install though - haven't looked much into it yet.

owned an NA and a NB - hated them actually - bone stock, so not prepped and a ton of body roll. I know what you mean though - the mini is actually my "get better" car for the evo lol. which it did help tremendously, but I think a big chunk of it was being motivated to go out and kick some *** in the car, with measurable improvements over the last few years.
with the car getting paid off in November though, kind of at a crossroads of what I want to do with it. keep it as is, keep it but swap my FCM bilsteins for just bilstein HDs, or sell the car altogether. haven't really made up my mind on that front though.
