At long last, the season is starting!
The DC region of the SCCA is having our first Autocross of the season on Sunday, April 6th. It's just a practice right now and won't count in the championship. Looking forward to starting the season as it'll be my first campaigning the MINI! Just got my wheels and tires and I'm ready to go!
What have you all done to get yourself and your car ready for the season? Has anyone else started already?

I'll be racing #10 HS going up against the likes of "'Mash-all' Cone" who is a fantastic driver among others. Got my work cut out for me, but I like it that way :-)

Not in Hstock, but added Camber plates and rear control arms, Header and port and polished cyl. head. I also prepare by looking at every turn I take
Have fun, don't get too excited that you DNF like I did my first time out 3 outta 4 runs. Walk the course, walk the course, walk the course. I like the group walk, but I think I get more out of it if I just do it my self.

Yesterday was the first event, and it was great despite the rain. Awaiting results still, but last I heard I was 6th of 10 and the fasted on street tires. I decided not to use my V710s because I thought they wouldn't be going anywhere in the rain. Turns out, I would have benefitted to have them on because everyone who beat me was running on them. Hopefully I'll have results soon and then I'll post more details...or start that in a new thread. I haven't decided yet.

The V710s I'm running are 215/40-16. They are a lot shorter than the 205/50-16's I use on the street, which are already shorter than stock. The tires also fit pretty well on the 6.5" wide stock rims. Tirerack lists the outside diameter of the V710s at 22.6" and stock is 24.6". The Hoosier A6 is also available in a 205/45-16 with an outside diameter of 22.8". Since my experience with the V710s is limited to a short blast down a nearby twisty road, I can't speak to their autocross performance yet.
