Hi guys

1st if this project thread is in the wrong area, feel free to move it.

Well after selling my R56 JCW around 4 months ago, I've been struggling, and tbh pretty bored without it, the moment she was driven away I instantly regretted it, and I knew that at some point in the future I would need to get another, I just didn't think it would be this quick.

for anyone interested in pics of my previous mini, search for Instagram tag klenk44

But after hearing the sad news about our much loved friend Rich at Orranje  I like others, realized that life is just too short, and you need to enjoy it while you can, so I set about looking for another project.

I had considered going in a different direction, and moving on from minis, but hey who am I kidding lol

I had been looking since the day I sold the jcw, well just browsing ads, not seriously considering one, but then I decided to step up the search.

I knew that if I was to get another, it would be staying for quite a while and with that being the case there was only one model I was after, and that was the R56 JCW GP2.

I was after one with as low mileage as possible, and after going and viewing quite a few, I was surprised to find how rough some of them were, even cars with less than 8000 miles were covered in chips, scratches, marks, paint flaking etc, and in general they just hadn't been looked after.

Anyways I came across one which had only been listed for a few hours, and it looked mint in the pics, so I gave them a call and he said it was as good in person as it was in the pics, so I set off on the 5 hour round trip to take a look, and as soon as I saw it I knew it was the one.

it had only covered 4700 miles from new, just 500 this year, and it had just the one previous owner, along with a 5 year tlc pack.

The mini also still had the plastic over the door sill strips, and the tools etc.

imo it was probs the best one currently for sale in the U.K and after comparing it with the others on the market, I felt it was priced a little less than it should be, and I just couldn't miss this one, so a deposit was left last week, and today we went to collect.

Here are a few pics, sorry I mean a lot

Ready to collect

Nice find! I also want to get the carbon scoop with GP decal. Looks Great!

To be honest, when you are looking at the used market for these "track specials", it is near impossible to find one that hasn't been thrashed. If the previous owner takes it to the track and drives it like it was meant to be driven, chips, scratches, marks, etc. are inevitable.

Thanks matey, glad you like it, yes the carbon works really well with the thunder grey, it's not to in your face etc.

yer I can see what you mean about marks appearing when they've been tracked etc, I guess i'm just a little fussy, and with there only being around 270 in the UK it is a little harder to find ones that haven't been tracked, and that are in good condition.

Having said that, i'll be taking mine round the nurburgring next year
