PAW tune on GP

I am looking at tunes for my GP and see that a few owners have the PAW tune. I was wondering how you like it? Also, I guess a bigger intercooler and spark plugs are a must. Did everyone get them from PAW or do you recommend something else? I am just looking for more reliable power.

I'm curious too, been out of a Mini for about 5 years now, looking at the GP, but worried that I'm not going to have enough power to satisfy me. One of the reasons I sold my 07 JCW. I know Mini is all about the handling, and I can really appreciate that, one of the reasons I"m back on this site :-)
But, I've been use to driving hi-horsepower cars, current one being 550whp.

I'm not looking for miracles here, but it would be great to get the GP into the low 13's 1/4 mile and low 5's for 0-60.

I've done quite a few searches on here, but I'm having difficulty finding any performance data. I figured since I left 5 years ago, there would be all kinds of tuning options, wheel options, etc. but it seams that it's still difficult to find any solid info. Anyone on here take there car to the drag strip? I know, I know, Mini is all about the handling
I just want to see some performance numbers in the real world, and not just on a dyno sheet.

Help get me back into a MIni ;-) Other cars I'm considering are the BRZ, and the 2015 Mustang, still waiting on specs on this one, hopefully April, and cars wont be on lots till Sept/14, but not sure I can wait til then.

Just doing a few searches on tuning the N18 motor, and came accross this:
http://www.*********************/for...p/t-18211.html

It's a little older thread, so not sure what's been discovered since then, but according to a few people, including Jan from RMW, the N18 is a pain in the *** to tune. Apparently you risk damage to your ECU box if you attempt to open it.

nope, wont let me. :-(

Well, here is one post from someone talking about RMW not wanting to mess with the N18.

comment from an above post:
"It's kinda just sad from my standpoint, the best in the business won't tune an N18"
ought to be enough to leave it alone... there is a reason he is not tuning it.
There is a difference between having a few problems, and tearing up your engine.. That's bad for business..

Agreed. It's already been stated, the tune is the easy part. Physically getting at the ECU is hit or miss. One thing you quickly learn watching/getting tunes is how different each car is, even when they have the exact same engine/mods. Is your car the one that it going to be easy, or is yours the one that the ECU is going to go thermonuclear during the tuning process? Roll the dice....

It's just not worth it, that's what we're all trying to tell you, unless you're ok with a several thousand dollar fix if things go bad. If you go ahead and do it, seriously, I wish you best of luck, and hopefully you'll be one of those lucky ones. If not, this thread will be a sad reminder for posterity. The truth is, you have the wrong car for what you want to do.

Hey Mario,

That sounds great :-), but looks like you have a lot of other supporting mods, and running E85 as well. Do you know what the GP was putting down for it's baseline WHP?

This is a dyno from PAW that they posted on their Facebook page. Only mods were intercooler and colder plugs.

If that's correct, there saying stock GP putting down about 220whp?
No drivetrain loss?

The base numbers don't make sense. It might of been a previous tune. The final numbers seem spot on considering drivetrain loss. I have yet to see a stock dyno run. It would be nice if someone would post one. I'm still trying to decide on a tune.

My GP with full bolts on (FBO) and 30% E85, 218whp. The tune gave 30+whp/wtq.
