Will 15" wheels fit JCW CP car ?

Hi,

I want to know if I can fit 15" winter rims on a JCW Competition Edition equipped with the larger brakes (JCW red calipers).

Thanks

when i spoke to my dealer last year when ordering my car, he stated that the JCW brakes will just clear the 16" X-Lites.....as long as there are no stick-on weights along the inside of the wheel. If this is the case, I highly doubt a 15" rim will fit. :(

I read here or elsewhere there were 3 after market brands that carried 15'' wheels that were guaranteed to clear the JCW brakes.

The Kosei TS-1 wheel was one of the three.

Anyone know what the other two are?

Anyone know which of the three are the lightest?

My only concern in going to 15''x7'' is the even more reduced ride height. Am I incorrect in assuming the car will be lowered another 3'' from this switch? The GP is already very low (too low even) for city traffic and curbs. I don't want to be street sweeping here

If I go up to 16''x7'' (or even 17''x7''), who makes the lightest wheel out there? SSR and the OZ Superleggera's are often mentioned, but I only see the OZ weights noted. Any other names out there worth looking into?

Appreciate the feedback.

UBeenMiniD, congrats on your GP! I live in San Francisco too but I still haven't seen one here yet.
Alex at TireRack listed these 15" wheels in this thread:
It is the outer diameter of the tire, not the wheel size that affects the ride height. Normally changing to a smaller wheel would be combined with using a taller sidewall to keep the outer diameter the same, so that speedometer accuracy, gearing, and ride height would not change.

The weights for the four 15 inch wheels mentioned are…

Kosei K1 TS 12.6 lbs
OZ Ultraleggera 12.0 lbs
Motegi Tracklite 10.4 lbs
Motegi Tracklite 2.0 10.4 lbs

You have to remember that the x-lites have a design that is extremely unfriendly to larger calipers, and they have an offset of 50 or something like that.

Mz3bo, if you get a 15 with spokes that are pushed out and an offset closer to 40, you'll probably be in business (like the ones mentioned above).

I have run X-lites on our GP. No clearance problems. The weights are stickon's, and they clear.

Excellent! Very good to know. What's your GP number?

Anyone have any feedback about the performance of these rims? I'd love to hear.

Happy thanksgiving all.
