Great deal on a GP

I'm not sure if CarMax knows if this a GP or not. I haven't check the VIN but if it's a true GP it's a good deal.

Yes that is a very good price. KBB say $18k. I did a VIN decode and it is the real deal, but, I cannot figure out the front brake caliper that does not appear to be red.

I was just got back from Florida, would have gone and looked at it.

Thats what happens when you are an old fart and put the wrong glasses on. The rear wheel starts looking like the front.

Claimed to be a one-owner car. Who dumps a GP at Carmax? PPI is a must on this one, figuring they probably got $10-11k for it.

Price seams fair based on year and mileage, if all checks out mechanically.

Yea, I have seen a couple at carmax over time. I seen one for near 10K and someone grabbed it up. Must have been there a week at best. I think they priced it as a low mileage Cooper S.

Some here maybe shocked but not everybody treats their car as a prize possession. The daughter of a woman I worked with went out with the bosses' son. They stopped to get gas back in the $4/gallon days and when she noted the price the kid said something like he didn't pay attention to things like that as the company paid all his bills.

I can see that kid doing this with a GP.

I would sell my 06 JCW and buy this car if SCCA did not ban it from street classes.

This is a one-owner GP which looks all original, with only 48K miles. It does not look abused. An original owner who bought one new, then kept the miles very low for 11 years is probably not a "kid" who doesn't appreciate what they have.

Just odd to me that it wasn't sold privately. So it's worth having a PPI to ensure that there aren't any of the usual R53 issues hiding beneath that gorgeous GP exterior.

I've already owned a GP1 and GP2. Got it out of my system. Hope this one finds a good home.

Used the kid as example of person that might not hold the car as special as someone else in response to what type of person dumps this car at a Carmax. Perhaps the first owner sold the car to Carmax, he traded it into Carmax for another or it was an estate and somebody that did not know what the car was got quick money from Carmax.

I only wish he/they did closer to me.
