My GP has been Revolution'd

1 Attachment(s)
A timing chain tensioner and 8 rocker failures resulted in new Revolution engine project. The car was started for the first time since the project began (13 October) this past Thursday, 12 January and dyno tuned at Helix on Friday.

I cannot thank Jan enough for all the hard work his shop did to build the engine, to German Auto Group in Springfield, VA for all the initial repairs and the car rebuild process once the engine was received, Eric at Helix for the hours he spent between other projects on Friday to dyno the car and coordinate the graphs across the country to Jan, and to Jan for tuning the car.

I called Jan from the first service plaza outside Philly on my way back to D.C. to let him know that this car is SCARY FAST!!

240WHP/185ftlbs Tq

- RMW 1.8L Stroker Engine
o RMW Street Cam
o RWM BV Head
o RMW 80mm Stroker Pistons
o RMW Stroker Rods
o Inconel CylinderSleeves
o RMW Crankshaft
o RMW Oil Baffle
o 550cc Injectors
o New Water Pump
o New Oil Pump
- RMW Shorty Headers
- RMW Tune (Dyno Tuned at Helix)
- RMW Brake Duct Kit (ordered; being shipped); shop already cut the openings
- Lightweight Crankshaft Pulley
- JCW Plugs
- DDM GP Intercooler Diverter
- WMW/TXWerks Improved Upper Motor Mount
- BSH Lower Motor Mount
- Clutchmaster Stage 4 Clutch/Flywheel
- Power Flex Front Control Arm Bushings
- 19mm H-Sport Adjustable Rear Sway Bar
- Upper Aero Grill
- Helix Shorty Antenna
- Down Pipe with (JCW convertible) restriction removed

Existing Mods:
- K&N High Flow Air Filter
- SAMCO Intake Hose
- Air box rubber plug removed
- M7 Strut Brace
- 3rd Brake light pulsing adapter

No, I did not change the pulley. I wanted to maintain driveability around town as well as maintain the lower amount of engine heat produced by the pulley…..and not the least of which being my conversation with Jan about the keeping the JCW pulley (yes, I know it is 11.4% and would make more power with a smaller pulley say 15% or 17%). I am also keeping the stock ignition wires and coil pack based on my conversation with Jan.

Next few months:
- Stage 2 Brakes (rotors/pads/lines/fluid)
- Schroth Harness Driver/Passenger
- Group4Autosport Aero Dynamics
- Revolution Oil Cooler (to be added May/June)
- Angel-Eye Lights
- Coil-over Group-Buy (if I can get it past the wife)

Now THAT is classic! The most impressive list of mods you could possibly put together and then you're worried about that? What is another three grand in cross coilovers?:lol::lol:

I bet it's awesome! Enjoy!

OK, it's been a few days, how about a detailed explanation of your newfound power!

Don't be fooled by the numbers that the Helix 'Heartbreaker' dyno produced. It was one of the highest WHP cars ever on our dyno (remember that we have done more than 1000 dyno pulls on MINIs). You could add 5 to 10% onto other dynos. This was a good car.

That's inspiring to someone looking to get in to a GP. Sweet!

JT///MC Jan 25, 2012 07:53 PM

I did nothing but get a RMW tune and that made a nice difference. But stock the GP is already super fun.

Officially RMWed as well, copycat of Dflyer
congrats
