show me your non OEM GP wheels...please :)

I've been researching ad nauseum, the replacement of my stock 18" GP wheels with 17 inchers. I love the way the GP rims look but I'd like a bit more ride comfort and weight savings by going 17". I'm planning to stash the 18's with the dunlop RF's for safe keeping. I've been hanging @ Tirerack a lot lately, but every wheel that I "see on vehicle" just doesn't give me a good impression so I'd love to see what you've done IF you've swapped out the OEM GP rims in the real world. I know there are JCW threads with "wheel ****" but I don't see a specific GP thread, and we should have our own since we ARE special right? . Right now I'm leaning towards a Motegi sp10 in black, but I haven't found a good image of those on our GP's. I promise I'll add my photos when I pull the trigger.

THX, gang

Those look nice...any on car fotos? I'm very interested in how the gunmetal color looks on with our "Thunder blue" body color. What's the weight on those?

MRWILSON........I did the same last year to save my GP wheels from the cavernous potholes that can be found lurking around Pittsburgh. I went with wheels I found a ALTA's site. I went with the Konig 'BUMP' wheels, they have red accents and a blue/black hue. Also, check this thread for numerous wheel options:

GP_Steve...those look great, though no longer available it seems. Most of the styles come and go from the various producers. Your pic really helps me see what black would look like, since I'm now considering Enkei RPF1 rims in black.

I have poured over the pics in the link, but it's hard to sort out the GP fotos, from the rest...and there are a tone as you well know. That was one of the reasons I started this thread...to let GP owners have a special place.

Are your wheels 17" or 18" and what tire size either way. I'm planning on 17's with a 215/45 tire.

I got my Motegi Traklite 2.0s in a 17x8 - 4-100 ET42 from The Tirerack. You might consider contacting them, because these are wheels that are commonly used on a Mazda Miata. These exact wheels are discontinued (I got them in 2008), but they may have something similar they can suggest.

The wheels are the size your interested in.......17" 215/45. Much nicer ride with the JCW suspension, but a little soft if you do an occasional track-day.

thanks for the info...one more question, in your new closeup foto it looks like an anthracite or gunmetal color but seems black in the complete car foto. what is the actual color? (per volk specs)

another data point

BBS RV-F 17x7.5 +42mm "diamond black" wheels
215/40/17 non-runflat summer performance tires
I'm also using the Huper Optik ceramic tint for the windows, very high clarity, still looks new, and goes well with the GP

I actually special ordered those Volks for my GP. They are not a standard color or offset or size for RE 30's. They are a very dark blue. They took 6 months to order from Japan. Worth the wait.

anybody rollin gunmetal/anthracite or variations of those colors. I like the black look you guys have all posted but I'm interested in some O.Z. 17's ...either the Alleggerita or Ultraleggera...in a non black. I'm looking to match the grayish tones in the Thunder Blue of the GP. I've seen these colors on other MCS rides but not on a GP yet. At least not that I can find. Thnaks for everybody's fotos at least we now have our own GP wheels thread going on. Eventually should get to sticky status i would think.

Keep those purty pictures coming folks!
