Ok, so where are all you GP's hiding?
...been wondering since I've learned about the GP...
 One of my cars is also a rare car, 1998 MB C43. Both 1998 and 1999 saw 500 come to the US. In 2000 the E55 was the selection most people chose, and I think the C43 was a special order that year or at least was definitely very limited in numbers released, and only a few hundred were sold to folks here in the US. So there's a fairly limited number of them on the roads. Yet over the years I must have come across maybe a dozen, maybe more on the roads. ......but I've never seen a GP..... So, where ya all hiding?! :) One thing that comes to mind perhaps is I live in the NYC Tri-State area. This wider area (extending to lower New England to a little bit south of NJ), Florida, California, maybe Greater Atlanta area, is where we see the higher concentration of MBs. I kind'a gather that the Minis / GP are spread more evenly through-out the USA? Is this true? Actually, I think I can go look @ a registry to answer that... |
We have about 6 or 7 "hiding" here in AZ!
check out GPMINI site has the locations of most GPs: http://gpmini.net/wp/introduction/ looks like most are in CA.
The 415 GPs that came to the US are spread out across the US. What I remember is that each dealership could get about 4 GPs. For example, I think about 50 Gps came to California. Other than at the two Mini Takes the States events (Laguna Seca & Los Angeles), I have only seen three other GPs driving in California over the three years that I have had my GP. I have over 43,000 miles on my GP but I suspect many do not get driven much.

we have 2 in santa cruz 1 in ben lomand, 1 in gilroy and mine in watsonville about a 35 mile radius, and only seen one at pebble beach. ok, the one I seen in PB, is a local car, but from monterey that is kept in storage, owner from MA.
did canada get any GPs? I have yet to see one locally.
We got the Competition Edition instead of the GP and only 64 were made. From what I have read they were available in a few different colours and were basically fully loaded JCWs unlike the GP which didn't have rear seats or many options.
I drove mine to Fullerton Saturday night. I don't drive mine as much as I like. It has over 25K on it. I can say I enjoyed the drive  !
I spotted 0280 in a parking lot in the Hewlett/East Rockaway area of NY. I've seen it there numerous times and decided today I would park next to it and take a closer look.

Would be nice if GP owners could have a NorCal meet and run somewhere, like say Santa Cruz it has nice beaches, bars, coffee shops, parking, restaurants, proximity to bay area, and great roads. |
I think most of them are in Georges garage ( cocoons ) on Long Island..
In AZ, you may see mine around Phx, I have decided to make it my daily driver. Got rid of our other MINIs. |
There's probably about a half dozen in Fairfield county, CT
Not to change the subject (as we have a GP in my town of 60,000 people) but where are the Airborne Mini's? Are they myth?
I have got over 42,000 miles on mine. I have only seen one other GP where I live, in the Piedmont, Triad area of North Carolina. I did see another one at the Tail of the Dragon this Spring he was from Florida.
Hit 19,500 on mine today! (GP1727) I know there is one living in Hillsboro, and one in Portland, and another in Vancouver WA.

Santa Cruz is full of 'em. Mine's the one in Ben Lomond, and I see a few every week either in SC or over the hill in the South Bay.
