This happened to me about a week ago. A guy was complimenting my boyfriend's fox body Mustang and says "where's your car..the little green PT Cruiser?"
HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN.

 

I was asked the other day, "why do you waste your money on your car?"

To which I replied not so nicely "B****, because that is my life"


I hate people.

 

Wow.....people for the most part are ok, some simply just do not get it and should keep their ignorant thoughts to themselves.

 

 

I like that and I'm going to steal it!

A coworker; "For 50K you think you would get more seats"

What a stupid response. It's about the features you get in a fully loaded MINI and the experience of its drive.

 

And besides, real men don't need more than two usable seats!

 

The stupidest thing I ever heard about a Mini was from my salesman who said, "We never discount these cars."

BTW -- they did.

 

People argue with me that the real reason I bought the MINI was due to the movie the "Italian Job" no....Mark Walhberg did not convince me. LOL I just always liked MINIs!

 

Charlize Theron can be fairly persuasive, however!

2 weeks ago, we were having our taxes done. The lady who was doing our preparation was itemizing the sales tax on my MINI, but she looked at the paperwork in a funny way for a few seconds. She entered the sales tax amount in the form, and went to look for the make/model. Then she was like "Hmm, mini? uh, mini? Oh, nice, you bought a minivan!?" in a real enthusiastic manner.

I had to say, "No, MINI Cooper" which just confused the issue more since she hadn't ever heard of it.
"What does one look like?"
I pulled out my phone to show her a pic like all proud parents do...
"Oh, that's cute!" she replied.
"Thanks!" I said as I declined to inform her that my car is in fact, mean, and not cute. I also passed up the opportunity to remind her that bear cubs are also cute until you wrestle with one, but I had accepted defeat by that point.

 

I went to a drive-thru by myself last night in the Austin Mini:

"Is that one of those right-seated cars?" - Guy at window

"Well, I am sitting on the right side of the car, aren't I?" - Me

 

I have an a2w intercooler and I have had a lot of people say oh it's got a vortec.

When I had my challenger some one said nice mustang.

 

I bet so many of my neighbors think my car is electric just because of the loud S/C whine when i pass by every day.

 

When I was test driving Mini's one of the sales reps at Prestige Mini argued with me that all Mini S's made from 2007 on were turbo. I told him that the convertibles weren't but he insisted even after opening the hood to see the intercooler he said I didn't know what I was talking about and he knew more than me because he works for Mini.

Ps I should mention that the SR I dealt with there was actually very nice and well informed and he agreed with me.

I just looked up a 2007 Mini S convertible and it shows it is turbocharged.

Was there a mix of them for MY2007? I've seen it both ways, so that's my guess. Either way, such a small detail to nitpick over.

Your link is incorrect. The MCS convertible (R52) was still first gen from 2005-08 so all S's were SC and a salesman for a dealer should know this.

 

Even before the 2nd gen MINIs were released (pre-2007), I saw a lot of ads in our
local paper's classifieds for a (first gen) MCS with "turbo".

 

Overheard at the car show:

About the New Beetle: "I hope these have better heaters than the old ones"...um, they're water-cooled ma'am...not air-cooled like the old ones

About Hyundai, from the mfr rep: "Yes, Hyundai owns Kia, but Hyundai is the Lexus of the two".

 

The funniest thing i heard was when I was selling my Volvo s60 to buy my Mini

So the guy was looking for another car for his daughter because she had blown up the motor in her other Volvo (Didn't know that was possible). He asked me a couple questions about the car, whatever, whatever. Then he asked what car i was getting in replacement for my Volvo, I told him a Mini. He waited a second (I guess to process it) smirked and asked if I was having a baby...........

Idk, I was 19 maybe he though i had made some bad life choices. Then I asked him if I was having a child why would I go from a 4 door Volvo to a 2 door much smaller Mini?

 

I don't think you could have a Wrong-Seat in either a Mini or a MINI.

 

From family members who know I am trying to get pregnant:

"Well, she must not be able to have kids, because I don't think that thing even has back seats"
